Time to get it dyno'd!

16 psi for this blower is definitely producing some heat. I know meth and/or 7th can cool some of that down. But something Allan Phillips told me years ago, at a certain point the more you spray into the TRD blower the less air molecules can fit in that volume of space.

Only a dyno with incremental testing could show just where the efficiency starts to slide down. I bet the torque is higher than hp. Regardless, good to see someone really testing the limits @Athlaos

Time to figure out how to custom fit a bigger intercooler. And direct a new intake and throttle body on the driver side. @Roostfactor

 

Phenolic or ABS plastic spacer for the cap with the TRD logo. Larger cooler. Problem solved. Someone with a 3D printer, make the spacer. Water jet for the phenolic spacer.

Vmp makes a very wicked water to air intercooler setup for boosted fords. It would be way overkill for the cooler in the supercharger but if you are able to fit a bigger cooler in the supercharger then it would be game over.

 

I wish my supercharger had the option for that. I’m limited to just the 9th/10th and water.

 

And I'm only at a pauper's 13 psi.

 

Indeed, they do! I installed their Dual-Fan, Triple-Pass Heat Exchanger in my Shelby...

 

At long last, OVT Supercharged V2 Calibration received via email earlier today.

It's installed and working (started the truck), but no drive time yet.

 

Lucky. He contacted me today. Said I have to resend my email before he could proceed. Only 1 month to respond to my email. Think I'll save for a ucon. Wish I'd have bought it now.

 

Don't feel too bad. I'm at a Jester's 12 psi.

Believe it or not, my long-term goal is 400whp. Which is nothing to be ashamed of on a TRD supercharger. Dynoed a few months ago at 361whp and 420ftlbs. Although there was stuff going wrong so some power was left on the table. Going to be hard to get that last 10% for horsepower though, I'm working on it.

 

This thread is starting to remind me of the GTO forum. Everyone was obsessed with HP, but the real number that should be pursued is torque. That will mop the floor with everyone all day before horsepower. HP sells cars, TQ wins races.

Actually, my built GTO had a higher torque output than it did horsepower.. and I loved it that way.

 

You’re right. Torque is for having fun, horsepower is for bragging.

There is a little movement on this but very little due to y-pipe orders.

Injen 1026BB filter, 4" to 3" 45° silicone adapter. MAF flange is now welded to the 3" tube and I have a honeycomb air straightener installed before the MAF as well.

Bought an aluminum oil filler neck (I think from a 4.7 engine) and fabbed it up to allow room for the intake routing. Welding cast aluminum sucks! Hopefully welding the blower casting will be easier.


I am going to relocate the intercooler reservoir to the passenger side as well as the battery. I have 1-0 gauge ofc copper welding cables to relocate the battery and may do the big 3 upgrade while I'm at it.

I also have to make a cold air box for the new filter location, extend MAF wires, extend TB wires, etc.
I will do as many things as I can before hacking up the blower to prevent downtime.
