I have a VIAIR 440P. Waiting to get it hardwired into the trucks bed compartment but for now hooking it up to the battery works very well!

I'm waiting for delivery of my new Vlair 88p. Great reviews and I couldn't pass up $61.50 shipped. I also grabbed a Ez Deflator for $20

For an alternative consideration...scuba tanks...size C-50 and you can fill tires and blow dirt out of the bed.

I have the Vlair 88p. Works great..
Anyone have a link for a small bag or toolbox that it fits in? The only thing I can find at my house is a much bigger Dewalt bag I'd like to keep it behind the seat of my DCSB

    Thanks

Nice timing on the reappearance of this thread. Been looking at and considering the 88p. Everything above continues to point at this compressor as the way to go. Mind you Canadians can only dream about a price of $51. Ours hover around the $100 Can range, and even with the difference in exchange rate the difference is hard to justify.

I have a converted bead blaster tank. 150psi max, take it with me when I may need to inflate air bags, clean out the bed, etc. I keep it under 100psi, so I won't accidently over-inflate an air bag. I can air up in 10 seconds, while I'm waiting on the scales operator at a local gravel pit.

If I get a 400p how necessary is it to have a tank? I’m only looking to use it for airing up tires and pressurizing my road shower.

I have the 400P, It'll air up to 35" tires so plenty power to do extra stuff you might need.

I recommend the 400p-auto. You don’t have to worry about blowing out anything in the compressor, the compressor shuts down while you go between tires. No need for a tank if its just for tires.

Since I last posted in this thread I've gotten a 400P. For a while I went back and forth with doing a hard mounted OBA system, or just getting a stand alone, or doing some sort of hybrid frankenstein OBA system.

I first went to harbor freight and got a 5 gallon 125psi air tank for $25, I wanted to see how far that tank would get me with filling tires. I was barely able to fill one 265/75r16 tire from 18 to 32 psi (only got a few psi in the 2nd before it ran out of pressure). Obviously that wasn't enough.

Then I went out and got the 400P. The 400 fills my tires from 20 to 35 psi in less than a minute each, and does it much quieter than I expected.

The tank can be used if I need to re-seat a bead or something (haven't needed it yet). The compressor has plenty of power to re-fill the tank if I need to.

88p here. I keep the truck running with the compressor sitting in the driver floorboard and the AC on high on the floor to keep it cool when I'm filling my tires.

I've had the 440P for a few years now and it's been a champ. I can air back up after a trail and be on the highway in a few minutes. And it works great for getting the float tube filled in a hurry.

.50 cal ammo can works well. After using the compressor, I'll take the lid off the can so that the compressor can cool down in the can. That way the can sides will still protect the rest of my gear from getting melted by the heatsink.

I loved my 88p Viair compressor but it took damn near 30+ min to fill up my 33s. Just got the Viair 300p compressor for xmas and man does it blow the 88p out of the water. 15psi to 40psi on all four corners in 15 min tops.

Still doesn't beat my buddy's ARB on board air but I'm much happier now lol.

I went with something different, I didn't want a permanent mount in/on the truck or to deal with 20' of hose. I bought a 24 volt battery power compressor, single charge fills four tire several times over, Batt's hold charge for about a full year before needing a top off. Use the same Batt's in my 24 volt impact wrench and 1/2 drill. Fits in tool bag along with three batt's. 2-3 minutes a tire from 15psi to 35psi.
