so I got bored today and went and test drove a new 2019 Rubicon with the new 2.0 turbo engine. the one I drove had every option you could get minus painted fender flairs and top. It was a "nice" vehicle I will say. I was surprised on the test drive that it was as quiet as it was. it was a hard top, so that probably helped that aspect. but...the new 2.0T engine in my opinion, is garbage. the turbo lag immediately turned me away. the new engine was extremely loud too, not sure why. I was impressed that it rode well and handled well though. I have never owned a Wrangler, but lately have been thinking of trading my truck for one. I also drove a V6 Moab they had sitting there too, went 3 miles down the road and immediately turned around and went back. that was all it took to know if I were to buy a new Jeep I would get the V6. we did work numbers and while they "did all they could" needless to say I drove home in my Tacoma.

so no new Jeep Wrangler for me. glad I am happy with my Tacoma. now I may go test drive a Pro 4 Runner next week...lol.

If you wan't to get to know the dealership service department more intimately than your significant other you should definitely consider a Chrysler product

Almost did the same thing in September, worked numbers on a JLU Rubi in Sting-grey after driving my Mom's 18 JLU Rubi. I will say the same thing, the etorque/turbo delivery is odd and then the price, holy hell the price. A JLU Rubi with LED package, Alpine Stereo, Proximity Entry, Leather, Tow package and Hardtop is $51k+ (all things you can get on a tech/prem taco for $10k less). Besides that it does feel great to drive, awesome capabilities, great resale too, its just too expensive and questionable reliability (already have frame weld failures at the track bar) for me, that and I didnt want to buy a trailer to haul my bikes to the track on the weekend, lol.

My mom and her JLU Rubi

Or just buy a Chrysler product, you’ll be at the service department so often you’ll know everyone by name and their shift schedules

I know someone who had 2018 loaded wrangler, after a few attempts on his life(by the wrangler) the guy went back and talked to the owner of the dealership, ended up driving away with brand new loaded 2019 Cherokee. Wrangler kept having some issues with the steering, where the owner almost crashed on a handful of occasions

My mom has had her wrangler for 8 months now, no problems whatsoever, but its only got 2k miles on it, lol, time will tell, it is an FCA product.

They had issues with the electric steering in earlier builds, that and the track bar welds failing...

Give it time, FCA products are notorious for having electrical problems

There are plenty of jeeps on the road just fine, plus she's got me at home next year when I go back to grad school to keep an eye on it lol.

Jeep owners are fanatical though, worse than tacoma owners, this was her dream car, she loves it.

the one I drove was StinGray too. and its the only color I would consider.

I would love to have a new Rubicon, but for the money I just can't see it. plus, I would have had to spend money on it once I got it too. because there are some things I wouldn't leave on it. mainly wheels/tires/lift.

we already own one Jeep product in the form of a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk Elite that we leased for our daughter. I know their reputation isn't great but so far so good. it had one recall for air in the brake lines but that was taken care of when it had about 250 miles on it. it now has 4000 miles on it and has been good to go since. anything can happen, to any brand, any vehicle.

Dad puts her in a new vehicle every 3 years (business write off or something like that for them), she's good / factory warranty.

Yet some things happen more frequently on certain types of vehicles. Like, a lot more frequently
