I have a 2018 SR5 taco and it seems be shifting a little weird and specifically when on the highway about 70 it like to sit at3500 rpm. Not sure if anyone else has experienced that, but I’ve heard that the tranny has had some people a little pissed at Toyota, not sure if that would cause it to sit at a high rpm

Take it to the dealer. You may need to have the fluid checked and filled or TSB or something

Sounds like its stuck in 4th. At 70 switch to S mode, if nothing happens, you're I'm 4th. Try up shifting from there.

So I used sport mode and put it up to 6th, and that solved the problem. My ass will be at the dealership first thing tomorrow morning having them fix it. Thanks for the help

When I had my 2017 I had that issue a few times, after getting the transmission TSB flash, and after they put the trans fluid to the correct level since it was low. Part of it is a lack of bottom end power.

That new Ranger though lol... Ike Guantlet it's faster, better mpg, and quieter. And wasn't at 5500 RPM.

Be sure you ask them to do a proper fluid level check too. It will take time, since there is no dipstick and the procedure requires certain temperatures in the trans to do it (like let it cool off if you drive it in, then bring it back up again).

They may be resistant to the idea, or even take it behind the magic curtain and bring it out later telling you it's good. Hopefully your dealership has more integrity than that. Unfortunately it seems many like to 'assume' it's fine from factory, but it's not always, as indicted by the poster (and many others around here) below.
