I am considering adding a few auxiliary lights (backup and ditch). At what point do I really need to add a sPOD or similar switching system?
    Thanks

i would say it depends on your wiring ability. you can wire a bunch of things without a spod.
if you are newer and are ok with the price, then an spod is a sweet setup. if you plan on adding down the road it will make life easy.

Good to know, thanks for the info.
I figure I can get a lot of wiring done for the $800+ cost of getting the sPod.

As someone who is very skilled in electrical wiring (car electronics installer by profession) I can say that things like the sPod or SwitchPro are almost always entirely worth it.

I think the perfect solution is
    1) SwitchPros system
    2) Powertrays Mount
    3) @mesojdm custom cubby panel to hold the switchpro control pad

This is by far the cleanest, easiest way to add auxiliary lighting and electronics.

it may be the easiest, but not everybody wants to drop a grand just to turn on some led lights lol.
if you only ever want to install a few lights then all the above is overkill. get 2 relays and wiring and go for it. for under 50 bucks you can turn on and off lights.
if you feel you want to build your own harness post up and we can walk you though all the parts you need.

Very late in response, put I can also agree with this! I personally own the @paranoid56 tray and a blue seas fuse panel and a few relays. I have the skills to wire it up clean and proper so that’s what I went with! Works great for me.
When done right, it is good and cheap! Unfortunately, the “done right” aspect is where most people end up needing a switch-pro or similar, because I have seen some CRAP wiring jobs!

I think this is a great plan I'm going to do the same but use an old cellphone as a S-Pod control pad mounted to my TPAM and throw a Redarc DCBC in for fun to run my duel bat and solar panel.

I also agree that if your just going to run a set of ditch lights and a light bar you don't need to drop that kind of cash. It is about what you plan to do I like to plan ahead so that I don't have to rewire multiple times I'm a one and done guy. If your not shure if your going to add more stuff than go cheep to start. Just my two cents.

Yeah same here! I’m set up for 5 accessories (and plenty more fuse spots) all wired into the cab, ready for switches when I need them
