...^^^... A customer on my paper route , Mr. Valentine, had a Jeep like this, but with green rims.

    .
There was a widow lady, Mrs. Persawn, on my paper route, who had a 1949 Buick (top of the line) and it had about 5,000 miles on it and and I only saw that car maybe 10 times in my life. It was always garaged and the most of the times I saw it was when the mechanic from the Buick dealership would pick it up for it's oil change. I always wanted to buy that car and .... POOF .... one day she died and the car was gone.

There was another paper route customer (Mr. Camp) who had a cool old Packard Clipper that he drove everyday.

Another costumer (Mr. Light) had a Studebaker Golden Hawk that was always garaged and he very rarely drove it.

And a little old lady ups the street, Mrs. Bernie Smiley, who drove a Super Charged Studebaker Coupe with 3 speed on the column. :burnrubber:

I was the paper boy for morning and evening newspaper for about 150 customer for maybe 6+ years in a middle class neighborhood and saw some fun cars and met some neat people.

Oh, Lester, had a cool Jeepster with a Chrysler or Desota engine and he would take us for rides too.
    ...

That 4,000 mile 1954 Packard sparked a lot of cool memories from the past.

Now this is an awesome story - love it and thank you for sharing it. Long story short, I grew up in a family of car nuts and my dad had 100s of every car imaginable when I was a teenager in the mid 80s. He had them my whole life but I didn’t appreciate them until later when all my friends thought we had the coolest cars ever. If it was a 60s muscle car we had several of them. Also, tons of cars from the 50s as well. I’d like to have them back!

From what you said about appreciating and understanding things from the past ... I didn't realize how good those things were either ... until later in life.

This one is just like the one my dad had. Unfortunately he wrecked it with his girlfriend in the car with him. Mom was NOT happy about that. I heard later in life it was an awkward hospital visit.

I can only imagine that was an awkward visit.

I used that as a bargaining chip as a teen when I wanted to stay out late. If not I’d ask dad if I could ask mom about the time he wrecked his new Mustang. Worked like a charm every time.
