Basically made a poor judgment call and ended up on a road I shouldn't have been on. With nowhere to really turn around without being in deeper shit I decided to just keep going. According to the map the road had an end but getting there seemed unlikley. The video is basically me knowing I'm fucked . I was roughly 2 miles from non stress inducing roads and it was well below 0°, no cell service but I was able to reach some guys on snow mobiles with my two way radio that helped me turn around and I made it out with no real problems though it was around 3pm in the video and I didn't get to a safe road until 2am . The performance of the BFG Ko2's is what saved me here . Going in was stupid but I've been know to be quite dumb from time to time . The problems really start around the 1:00 mark. Anyway, the video is just for entertainment purposes though you can take something from it like how drive or not drive in the shit .

The single-track road width and off-camber areas would definitely creep me out a bit w/ deep snow.

Almost worth that view though, wow!

Nice. Was backing up not an option? I once tried to cross over the sierras in late spring while the Yosemite pass was still closed, I thought I found a small road that was open. I made it over the summit and about two miles down the other side I realized that the snow was getting too thick for the truck to handle. Rather than press forward to find a turnaround, I threw it in reverse and backed up my own tracks the full two miles to the summit, where I could get turned around...

You made it out safe, and it'll help others learn from your mistake, so thanks for posting it.

What a view though... Too bad it was so cold.

You did have two opportunities for turning around, but like you, I wouldn’t have either. :D

Look into strap chains. Cheap, small, and really help out in situations like this.

The classic “I’ll just see what’s around the next bend” scenario.

I’ve been there, but I think I would have chickened-out a little sooner.

Had you aired down? Were you carrying chains?

I tried but I kept slipping towards the ditch, it was more nerve racking that just moving forward . I kept telling myself there's a clearing or a place to turn around just ahead . That never happened . I thought if I could just stay on the track I'd be ok .That hill at the end was just too much.

I would have stopped at that cabin and just waited for it all to melt.

You had an easy turnaround at 1:00 where you turned right from the tractor parked on the left. You could have just backed back to that spot from anywhere up until 2:55. You had another turnaround at a house at 4:30.
