So I am new to Tacoma’s just bought a used 2016 from a Toyota dealership. My previous truck was a 2000 tundra single cab four-wheel-drive. I am not used to a six gear transmission (and Electric censored throttle-body) it seems to shift through the gears to get to the six gear fast to save gas. I feel this causes the vehicle to bog down and needs to stay in a higher rpm gear at times. I have read about the TSB and wondering if I needEd to do that. Also, read about the trucks computer that learns your driving pattern and I need to unplug the battery? Is this right?

Do the TSB first. If you still don’t like it, orange virus tuning can fix it.

Just an FYI though once you do the TSB, you will be limited to the 1.04r & 1.05 OVTunes.

This is true but I’m not sure why you’d want an older version?

Older versions will not be available to new customers from OVTune once 1.05 drops. ;)

If that’s the case, then go get the TSB installed, should help.

ECT changes the shift points so you can get a little more power - kind of like Tow/Haul mode in other vehicles

Get the TSB done for the Stalling At Altitude - just tell the dealer you go up to the mountains and have experienced a stall if they give you any issues. That's one of the "reasons" for which they'll do the TSB but this update to the software on your truck will make it drive entirely differently assuming it hasn't already been applied.

On the TSB, for my truck, it doesn't race to 6th like it used to so I'd start there, then if you still want more you can get the tune but MOST folks will be happy with the TSB alone
