Sorry, but sounds like bull shit to me...unless you're a dumb ass like I was at your age, and ended up with 4 felony drug trafficking charges.

    Yep, definitely two different things.

But.... the young man's 18. Has enough credit to buy a $35-$40k truck on his own credit at 2.9%. AND has $30k+ in the bank. AND has funds left over to fun stuff etc. He's clearly in the 95th percentile of teenagers with respect to money management.

I'm just not feeling the 'you gotta spend more wisely' speech.

Yeah, the 6 year note.... not feeling that so much. But at 2.9%, the interest only cost him about $3k over 6 years or $500/yr. I still suggest the buckle down every other month and double up. Pay off in 4.

Well i used the party term loosely. My friends and I never even tried alcohol or drugs. Just the smell of weed and beer honestly gives me nausea. We just hang out and talk and maybe cruise together.

I honestly doubt it. He's 18, even working part time everyday you aren't going to pull in almost $10k a year after taxes. His days are spent going to high school, hanging out with friends and partying like he says

My turn to chime in. The trades are going to be hurting for skilled people in the future as more people go for nice white collar jobs. If you really want to be a mechanic you will need to be at the top of your game with electronics/computerized systems ect. Just because you go to school doesn't mean you are going to enter the work force making top dollar. Expect to start at the bottom and work your way up,spend a lot of money on tools additional training ect. The hours can be long, the jobs shitty, the pay lousy and the customers ungrateful and public opinion of "mechanics" is right down there with lawyers and politicians.

TL/DR It's a thankless job with low pay low return on investment.

If I had to do it all over again I would have done something different.

His prior quote said he had more in savings than in debt. $5k down on TRD sport..... so note is somewhere around $33k.

I take it at face value until proven a troll.

Oh ok well I guess I didn’t see the post where he had 30k+ in bank. If that’s the case, good for you OP

Anything else at this point, Im probably gonna ignore. Im just kid with a new pickup. I thankfully have a grant for school and I live with my parents. Nothing crazy. I appreciate the advice but I have parents for that. My older siblings are doing good so don’t think my parents aren’t doing their job.

Welcome to Tacomaworld. Where people who buy pointless overpriced overland gear for instagram and berate teenagers for having a truck as nice as theirs, 20 years earlier than they got it.

These guys mean well but given the chance to be 18 again and have a few bucks and a new car and they would all ignore their advice and do what you are doing.

That, or they reallY are that boring IRL.
