    Hey All!

I am looking to get a bunch of work done to my 2016 Taco 4x4 TRD Offroad at a shop here in the SF Bay Area. I'm a newbie when it comes to this stuff, so I was hoping you all could help with a sanity check on a quote I just got back from the shop. I checked the prices of the parts against what I could get online and they look either at or below what I could find which is good. The biggest question is around labor.

Total is $12,991 (parts are $9,433, labor is $2,685).

See picture for breakdown of what that includes.

Am I getting a good deal or am I getting fleeced?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts! You are all awesome.

    Cheers,

    -bigposer

The price on the sliders seems astronomical unless I'm missing something. That bumper even seems high.

I'd want Kings front and rear, or Icons front and rear. For the dough you want to spend, you should be getting Kings.

    Everything seems high. My $.02

Plus you could do the sliders and the Prinsu yourself very easily and save some $$ there.

Look at his location. A thousand sq ft hole in the wall is a million dollars there.
OP looks about right for your location.

    Yep...just double checked the bumper price...it's $625 direct (https://www.c4fabrication.com/product/2016-tacoma-3rd-gen-front-lo-pro-winch-bumper/).

And the Rock Sliders (https://cbioffroadfab.com/product/bolt-on-rock-sliders-3rd-gen-tacoma-2/)...$800 as configured.

Realized that when I went through and price checked, I didn't go to those sites bc you can't get them anywhere...didn't expect a markup.

This is why I have you all!

Yea...wish I could do something about that. Real estate prices here are outrageous, but this is where I found work.

I'll PM you the name, I don't want to shame them (yet) as he asked to get on the phone and walk through the quote and he may have made a mistake. I haven't been able to get him on the phone yet, so we'll see.

    Incredible markup on the prices.

Lo-Pro bumper for $1800??? Those things go for like $800

I don't see UCA. Good luck with those 315s, you be rubbing all over the place

Labor looks to be way too high and the invoice doesn't explain why an hour spent on tires costs more than an hour spent on alignment. I'd walk, its too high to even try to negotiate

ESP Lockable Rear Seat Storage, MobTown Lockable Bed Hatches, lots of cool Mobtown products (Rear Bumper, complete set of 1/4" steel skid plates, sliders), Old Man Suspension and a bunch of other practical off-road tools to bulletproof my truck...
I just sold a house there in the SFO area and had to hire a "Handyman" to do some of the work to get the house ready for sale (I live in Virginia and did not have the time to go to do the work myself)...The handyman cost $100 an hour...I had some work done on my Tacoma and labor is $25 per hour here in Virginia...The California wages are crazy and you really don't get much for it...I would buy all the stuff your self, take a trip to Reno for a long weekend and have someone do it in Nevada, where the labor will be half that price and you will have a nice vacation out of it...Save about $3000 on top of that by buying the things your self...

Sounds like there are some folks in the area willing to help. You need an extra pair of hands for the sliders, but it's just nuts and bolts.
