Just did mine today, hell of a project doing the retrofit, but extremely happy with how it looks.

Looks great man, nice work. And advice for someone getting ready to do the retrofit themselves? I going to be doing it here in the next few weeks. I just bought a 2nd set of OEM's so I can take my time doing them. I'm going to black out the outer reflectors, but have been on the fence about blacking out the reflector bowl. When you blacked out, did you scrap off all the chrome?

It actually was very easy, I was scared to death of the whole baking my headlights lol. Very simple though, peeled right apart and I added a little more jbweld to ensure a good seal. All I did is put a few coats of krylon glossy black on the main reflector bowl and sun dried it, shrouds too. Couple things i ran into, cause I'm not too smart. Put the high beam wire in and the shroud on before you mount the projector to the housing. Tighten the hex nut by hand until you can't anymore then just about a 1/4 turn with some pliers. Super thanks to the great instructions on this thread.

Hey Jimbo, first I'd like to say thanks for posting about this, I know it's old but you've helped me in my research. I'd like to ask you, after doing this mod 2 years ago, are you still happy doing the MGM color instead of the typical BHM? I'm going to be doing a retrofit here soon and have been torn on choosing either black or going with MGM. I saw someone post in this thread saying that going color matched looked too "ricey", but I've haven't seen it in person to agree/disagree. Any input would be very helpful. I'm painting both the bezels and the bowls FWIW. Thanks.

Hey mike. No regrets on the mgm color here. Since its a dark color its in the same range as black. I would agree on the color matching looking too "loud" if white, red, or some other color.

Update....one of the aluminum nuts that hold the projector to the reflector bowl on mine didnt hold :( I don't mean this as a negative connotation, cause everything thing is great but....yeah. take that as a lesson learned, maybe go find a stronger nut

Finished up my dark grey metallic headlight bezels. Also refinished the lenses. Might give the lenses one more round of polish then seal them.

I think I'm going to tackle this this weekend while the wife isn't around to catch me stinking up the oven! :spy:
Does anyone know if you can put the tail lights in the oven and black out parts of them as well? There looks like a lot of extra red that isn't reflective that could disappear.

The lights don’t make much smell when you heat them up.
The tail lights are not the same as the headlights. They have to be cut apart.

    Just a few LEDs...
If you're still looking for black tail lights, many people here have used these. I have a pair myself.
