After looking for months on this forum and eBay looking for the old style w/o the red lettering skid plate I just lucked out big time on the older version TRD Pro skid plate. I just walked in at a near by Toyota dealership near my job on Friday to get a price on a skid plate thinking I’ll just remove the red trd and buy a black overlay. He said $420 is the best he could do so I said thanks and I’ll think about over the weekend. As I was walking back to my truck I saw a blue 2017 Tacoma OR with the skid plate I’ve been looking for. So I said what the heck and went back inside and asked for the used car manager. After waiting for about five minutes he comes walking over and asked what he could help me with and I asked him if he would be willing to sell the TRD Pro skid plate on the 2017 OR and they can have my stock skid plate to put back on the truck. To my surprise he said sure so I said how much do you want for it I was willing to go to $350 because you just can’t get this style anymore and he surprised me even more when he said a bottle of patron tequila and $20 for my mechanic come back tomorrow at 9am . I said thanks I’ll see you tomorrow and walked away in shock lol. Boy that was a long night showed up at 8:45 the next day and he was already in the showroom with one of his mechanics so I handed him his bottle of patron and gave the mechanic $20 and 15 minutes later I was driving home with my new skid plate for $40 still can’t believe it0B20FC52-8176-4DCE-ABCF-F9131822FEFF.jpg 7C03D583-1D5A-4775-9B86-20404A65CC6B.jpg

Wow, your Toyota dealer is night and day compared to the one in my city...I can't even walk into the local Toyota without feeling like everyone hates their job. Nice find!

That salesman knew what he was doing.

When you go shopping for your next truck, he will be alone at the top of the list of salesmen. Pretty smart.
