    Hey guys,

Im looking to up my tire size in the coming weeks when i go to get new tires. Currently i am running 265/65/r17 Toyo OC AT2’s. I have my eyes on the Toyo OC R/T’s in 255/80/r17. I am running a 17x9 wheel and i have called around to tire shops asking if these tires would fit my 9 inch wide wheel, which they all replied and said yes they would. I have a 3 inch spacer lift on for the time being until i can afford to upgrade my whole suspension. I have done some plastic trimming already and i have read around and alot of people are saying they havent had to do a CMC with this size tire on a 3 inch lift. My biggest concern is rubbing with this size. Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated, Thank You!!

Do the cab mount chop and go big. Also ditch the spacer. Yes, you will rub with that size of a tire. Do you have stock UCAs? This will play into the factor. Good luck.

Yeah im running the stock UCA’s. Do you think if i just went up to 265/70/r17 from the 265/65/r17 i would rub? i think it would be about an inch bigger than what i have now.

There are so many different variables to this question. What is your backspacing and offset? Do you still have the mud flaps? I rubbed with 265x65x17 on my mud flap and I am at 3" lift with LR UCA. I am jumping up to a much larger tire, doing CMC tomorrow and a custom alignment on Friday. I suggest you replace your UCA, get a real lift, do a CMC, and then jump up to a larger tire. Trim, cut and hammer where needed. It's not that hard and cost almost nothing. Good luck.

your wheels are wider than the max recommendation for the 255 width (most manufacturers say max is 8.5"). not a good idea if you do much wheeling, I would say. other than that I think they would fit without cmc (depending on your wheel offset).
