For real, it can get ugly. I was here for the quinoa riots of 2005.

i didnt think it was bad when i was out there for two weeks. I was actually amazed that, YES, you can have low wage traffic people on construction sites and the world wont end, as opposed to having to pay police $80/hr here.

I bet it’s intentionally intended to nudge people toward smaller, more fuel efficient cars. Don’t you think?

parking spaces have gotten smaller in an attempt to have some parking spaces.
Way too many people here, and the old infrastructure was never meant to accommodate the sudden growth. I think FoCo is in the top 10 places to live again.
Fort Collins, for example, it has almost become a requirement that parking spaces give way to patches of grass, maybe with a few sickly trees, because those things grow well surrounded by asphalt. All in an attempt to be "green" in appearance , while living in a drought stricken high desert plain, and of course we gotta pay somebody to mow, water, plant, and maintain in general what could otherwise be another parking space.
Check out the parking lot fuckery at the North Fort Collins Wal-Mart sometime.
However the one in Loveland, is just a big, uncluttered, very useful parking lot, that still allows overnight RV parking. Spaces are bigger too. I shop in Loveland simply because it's easier to get in and out of. They got the standard 27 registers as well, with at least 3 open.

The City and County buildings are the same, lots of nice green grass, small inefficient parking lots. Most reserved for city/county vehicles of course.

The REI parking lot is the worst.

It’s actually to create more parking spaces so more people can spend money.

It’s been going on since the 90s.

The biggest issue I have with Colorado drivers have been mentioned. I could give a rats F*** if you want to hypermile or feel that you have the right to putter along in the left lane but move over for Christ sake.

    1. A flash to pass is not an act of aggression.
    2. Letting someone in to your lane is not an act of submission.
    3. A THANK YOU WAVE would go a LONG way in Colorado.

    Nuf said.

Been here since '86 and to be honest I think a bunch of the issues with Colorado drivers are that they come from other states and to be honest quite a few feel like they need to police others. Just my 2.5 cents.

What I have found here...especially in the back country, 99% of the time when folks are in need people will help them out. Been on the "helping side" many times and the one time I was in a severe "jam" I was helped out tremendously. The kindness outside of the major cities/interstates is something that I haven't encountered anywhere else aside from serious off-roading communities such as Moab and others.

    Rant mode off!

I always get brake checked when I flash the lights to alert some nitwit to move out of the left lane. Im not the one doing 15 below the speed limit in the left lane.

I suggest getting whatever Colorado's version is. It doesn't do a thing for traffic, but lord it helps the soul.

(I may have been giggling uncontrollably while passing a presumably off duty sheriff on the right... Which came first, my speeding or your lane camping?)

I dunno, up here in tourist land where I live 99% of my negative traffic altercations involve vehicles from Texas. The roads are often snowy and messy in the winter and they have a really hard time with life when it's like that. My dashcam captures all kinds of idiocy from all states, but mostly Texas. And Kansas. And that is probably because a majority of our tourists seem to come from Texas. Closely followed by the red Colorado rental plates, who knows where they grace our presence from. They rent giant suburbans and are really good at blocking entire lanes and being lost in general.

However, I will agree that most of the cars chilling in the left lane doing 20 below the speed limit on dry roads will be Colorado cars. I don't think I've seen it to this level anywhere else. It drives me nuts!

There’s a reason Colorado vehicle insurance is in the top three highest in the nation.

Dash cam, trust me on this.

Timing is everything. No way in hell will you see me on I-25 during the weekdays between 3:45-5:45PM.

I live in the county, and like the “peaceful” living. Then again, in a few short years after retirement...not sure if we are staying in CO.
