    Hey all so question!
for a 2003 Toyota Tacoma V6 TRD 4x4, is it possible to swap the automatic transmission into a Manual?

I've not seen it done before, so it suggests to me that everyone is scared to try it but....

I want to know if, all being said and done, it CAN or CANNOT be done?

was thinking of buying this one pictured with my brother, but the problem is it's quite Automatic, which simply will not do
But there's like ZERO manuel trans Taco's on the market for under $10k
So i'm starting to poke around for the 'hard work' option

Pretty much anything can be done with enough time, money and resources. Swapping auto for manual transmission requires the transmission/transfer case, new clutch and brake pedals and linkage, flywheel needs to be changed, pressure plate and clutch, and probably new driveshaft(s) since the tranny's likely won't be the same lenght. Then there's fabricating the mounts for everything. Some years ago, I asked the same question about a '07 Mustang I wanted to convert, and it ended up being MUCH cheaper to sell the auto and buy a stick. But for your question; yes, it can be done.

Having done a few of these swaps over the years .

By far the best way is to buy a complete 5 speed vehicle and get it home .Here in Pa a Bad frame 5 Speed might be easy to find

You have all the parts you need right at hand . Buy parts here and there 9 million trips to a yard parts store or dealer can add so very much time and frustration.

There is the emissions to take care of if you are putting this on the street without looking I can`t recall just what needs done either switch to a manual ECM or repin what you have . Plus the other electrical differences between the Auto and Manual

one has to take into mind is all the grunt work worth the cost or just buy one and be done .Here you need to take into account the rusted and rounded hardware

Myself I would buy a Tacoma with a Frame Issue and do what needs done to fix that before thinking about a 5 speed swap for my own

Feel free to ask any questions

I have a 3.4 auto and access to 2.7 manual that doesn't run. I would like to swap the five speed into the 3.4. Question, do i need a bell housing or are they the same?
