I have the Hella H11 halogens, they put out a very nice yellow light. I wanted to go with LED’s and the latest ones with Philips emitters are pretty good, they still don’t have the same beam pattern. Plus there are no inexpensive yellow or amber ones yet. It’s fine to put LED’s in projectors, the beam pattern is the same no matter what you put in there, but the fogs are reflectors.

    I went with these.

They’re brighter than OEM bulbs, and I really like how the amber creates a nice contrast on the road with my 4500K HID headlights. And I’ve found the amber to be super helpful when it’s raining as it doesn’t reflect off the water on the road as much.

I should have been more careful. I went to swap them out and found out my truck uses H16 fog bulbs.

That’s what I’ve used before I got the morimoto fogs.

Should still be using H11 bulbs, there’s been do design change that I’m aware of in the 19’s. Same components in the 16-19.

The amber led fog assembly. It’s a complete replacement. There’s a group buy somewhere.

Not DOT approved, if just for off-road yes. On the street definitely no, not trying to get a ticket or be that prick that blinds everyone on the road.

The amber fogs from KC seem to be a good option and I’ve been looking at those for a full replacement in the future. They’re DOT approved too which is a huge plus as I drive with fogs on at night.

Right now the GE 130+ h11 bulbs appear to be the best option for increased light intensity. Im running them in my lows and will be getting a set for the fogs eventually. @crashnburn80 has tested these pretty extensively, you mentioned you've read one of his threads as well. There was one other yellow tinted bulb be review recently that did very well too, cant recall what it was though. But if you dont want to modify anything, the GE is the best option right now.

Burritoma, I also had H16’s in my fogs. My truck is an ‘18, Canadian, OR in theory but sr5 on the title. (Access cab OR MT)
I put in cheap H11 amber bulbs to try. I’m happy with them so far until I can decide on an option for amber pods.

H16’s are essentiallly the same as H11’s but run 10 watts less.

Is there a reason the 19’s use H16’s then? Lower output? It seems some people use H11’s and others say they use H16’s because H11’s don’t work.

Not entirely true. If you get cheap LEDs off of Ebay or Amazon then maybe yes. If you get LEDs from reputable brands like morimoto, supernova, or diode dynamics just to name a few they put their led chips in nearly the exact same position as the OEM bulb's filament so you don't get any weird light scattering. I have diode dynamics in my lows, highs, and fogs and the beam pattern is PERFECT. Same light cutoff as stock and no scatter whatsoever.

You know what, after a little googling, those of us using H11 halogens might be making a mistake. I thought they were 55w vs 65w but that’s not true, H16 are only 19 to 25 watts, while H11 bulbs are 55w. The H11’s are working fine so far but I got the truck at the end of November, and it’s been pretty cold. These bulbs use a lot more power, I’m worried about melting the housings now. Thinking I should get the H16’s.
