The federal tax credit is now reduced to $3750 (IIRC) for Tesla's, because they hit their quota of sales. Still at $7500 for those manufacturers who haven't yet.

Mind throwing up a link or two? A quick search wasn't able to find any videos talking about that, but maybe I'm blind.

It definitely looks, umm, interesting. It is growing on me though. I heard someone call it anime (spelling?) styling - now I cant get that out of my head. That pass-though door (that doubles as a seat) is a fantastic feature.

You are right, those federal tax credits phase out once a particular manufacturer produces 200,000 total EV units. Tesla has hit this mark, and for this calendar year the tax credit will be halved. Next year it will be a 1/4, I believe.

This was the issue people were having with Tesla/Musk and the Model #, myself included. I was a Model 3 reservation holder for the announced $35,000 minus $7,500 tax credit car. I plunked down $1000.00 and waited and waited. When production finally was announced they informed the reservation holder that, to generate revenue, a mid range Model 3 would be produced first - starting at $48k minus the tax credit. The $35000 car would be produced in the second run. Then after many production delays, they announced the second run of cars would be the premium, $60k level Model 3's and the promised $35,000 Model 3 would be run last. I was annoyed and irked by this, annoyed because my wife's lease would expire and leave me in a carless limbo. As I was digging through the Tesla BS, the Tesla fanboy sites, someone mentioned that the full tax credit would expire before the promised and hyped $35,000 car was ever produced. This is BS. I cancelled my reservation and I am glad I did. And as this has gone forward, they still have not started to build the $35k car. In fact, they are now building inventory and shipping thousands of Model 3 to Europe, delaying further the expected run of the entry level Model 3. More annoying is the fact that the high-end buyers are getting the full and partial tax credits. I'm no far-left Dem but this is shitty.

Nice post, you made me wanna go out and lease a Leaf! There's a guy at work who drives one and they allow him to charge it off of an outlet in the parking lot. I was creepily peering inside it yesterday and it looked pretty nice. Would be a great runabout for sure.

On the Rivian...I love the idea and it would be an awesome truck, but I just couldnt justify the cost. Same goes for a regular full size pickup.
