    Hello all,

I'm new here. I will be purchasing a 2013 Tacoma soon and it was suggested that I sign up here for some useful information.

As I haven't signed on the line for the truck yet... I have a couple questions.

    1. What should I be aware of or look for when test driving the vehicle?

    2. What kind of fun am I in for with this truck?

I have heard that the Tacoma runs like a tank and will last forever if cared for.

    Thanks for the info.

    Kuj

Welcome to TW... Buy it,good times ahead!! Frame rust is the biggest issue with Tacoma’s,otherwise they’re pretty much bulletproof.

Welcome to the site. 2013 is a good solid choice. Like someone said, check the frame. Also keep in mind the differences with the models (SR5, Sport, Off-Road). If you need 4x4, get it and save yourself from wanting one later.

I am getting the 4x4 model of the SR5 and I have seen several issues with frame rust... to the point that Toyota recalled trucks 2010 and older.

I assume that there will be rust on the frame as with all trucks that are driven in a road for longer than 5 minutes. Question is if there is anything that can be done about it or is it normal to see any amount of rust on a frame?

Really depends on where you are. Only acceptable rust I would accept on a 2013 are from the welds because those are usually just surface rust. The frames can be treated with fluid film or similar to prevent rusting.

Solid choice I own a 15 great truck, honestly only thing I’d say is make sure you have oem add ons like tow package can be a hassle later . Offroad model might be a better choice if you can swing it has couple upgrades like suspension, bed outlet, no abs module so you can do dual battery setup in that location.
