I’m looking at trading my 2nd gen SR5 on a 3rd gen TRD off road. The dealer will add wheels but is believes I need to add flares. I don’t want aftermarket flares because I like the black stock flare that comes on the off road with the cement color I want.

Dealer currently outfits custom trucks with 3 inch front 2 inch rear lift with 18 inch wheels wrapped in 285 tires. I’m thinking I don’t need all that much but still want more than just stock.

My question is this: if I got with a 17x8.5 wheel and wrap it in 265/70 ridge or terra grapplers, will my tires be beyond the fender or to the edge? State laws around here (Pa and MD) require the tread be covered by the fender. I don’t want to purchase this and then need flares. I may add a leveling kit to it as well (give room to prevent rubbing up front).

    Suggestions?

All depends on offset/back spacing of wheels. Stock off road wheel are +25 off set. You should be able to go to 0 offset without them poking out past stock flare.
