It turns, but so does the collar. And then the tool broke.

Maybe I'm a bit dense right now, but what collar are you referring to? The lighter blue part touching the spring should turn and compress to spring to generate the "lift" via preload, but what else is moving? Everything else is bolted to relatively immovable objects (coil bucket and LCA)

To make it the easiest you wanna jack the front of the truck off the ground, then lube the threads with some wd40. You’re not the first person I’ve heard of snapping that tool.

That's a stock photo, bruh.

Although I did just spend 45 minutes at the DIY carwash place 2 days ago getting all the muck off from last weekend...just in time for it to snow...

Edit: The minute install was done; still wasn't as clean.

    Bummer

If you want to save yourself the hassle of coilover removal, this spring compressor fits in there if you pop the tie rod end out. The compressor itself is rock solid and have used it to swap 700 lb springs before.

We had tried that too, but the coilover compressor did not fit in between the spring or there was not enough room while the coilover was still on the truck.

I'm sure what model or the manufacturer of the spring compressor. I do know that it did not come in a plastic case like the one in the picture, but it was still in the packaging. So it was basically brand new.

Not at all. I eventually replied my Tacoma with a 100 Series. I had them both simultaneously for quite some time but ended up selling the Tacoma as the 100 check all the boxes for the travel I was doing. I had the 100 for 5-6 years, drove it all over the West, Canada and multiple trips to Baja. There is a reason the 100 is so popular, they rock.

Gotcha. Well if you already have one it seems silly to buy another, but the one I linked is awesome and can definitely fit on the coilover on the truck.

It wasn't my coilover compressor, they had belonged to Noah at Decorative Metalworks.

We had used PB Blaster on the threads and didn't get nowhere.

Bilstein 5100's w/front's set at 1.75", TRD exhaust, Colormatched grill, Illuminated 4wd selector switch, BAMF Bolt on Sliders w/kickout.
I wonder if I could use it the same way to adjust the height setting on my 5100's without having to remove them...
