Hey Y’all, just found this forum while Googling Tacoma’s.

I currently drive a stick 2015 Mustang GT (80k miles and will trade in) but at 24 I should probably buy a truck next.

I’m interested in the new Raptor or a fully loaded F150/250, but not sure if I really want to spent almost half my yearly income on a 80k vehicle yet.

The Tacoma TRD Pro seems like a good alternative to me, it’s pretty cool and is probably still way more truck than I even need lol

I’m only 5’6”, so the Tacoma doesn’t seem too small for me, and I think it has the perfect amount of tech in it. I don’t really want or need power seats (They’re pointless and annoying to me) and all the other stuff you get on other new vehicles these days

I’m just torn between buying a loaded Raptor or SD simply because I can afford it, but the TRD Pro Taco seems to make more sense for me.

I’m definitely worried that I’ll be unhappy coming from a sports car, but the TRD Pro seemed ok on a quick test drive I did with a auto model.

Has anyone gone from a stick shift sports car to a Taco that might be able to give me some advice? Did you get a manual or auto Taco?

    Thanks!

I still have my 350z, a bit of mods in it so it’s a little quicker than stock. I didn’t need to do a trade in or anything I kept it and went and got me a Tacoma. I love the Tacoma so far, I’ve had it 4 months. The 350z is much more fun in the streets but in the Tacoma I feel more comfortable and as if I can go anywhere. Yes they are vastly different, considering my Tacoma is AUTO. But I enjoy them both as I understand they are two completely different vehicles designed for two different things.

Although it might be different as I do get to enjoy them both since I kept my 350z. While you will only have the truck. I’m 23 so our mindset might be similar. If that adds any legitimacy to my statements.

That does, thanks! I just don’t think it’ll be as fun rowing gears in a truck vs a car.
I would keep my current car, but I actually don’t like it that much and I’m not sure I want to have two vehicles to drag around with me when I move.

    Welcome!

Couldn’t be happier with my Tacoma, but it’s not for everyone. Take a long test drive in all of them and see what works for you.

Welcome. Didn’t come from a sports car but Manual to auto and honestly it has been a great transaction. I think you’ll be fine in a TRD Pro.

I can’t speak for shifting in a truck vs a car, as my trucks auto. I too will be moving soon hopefully within the next 2 years into a house and I don’t see a problem or annoyance at all with having two vehicles to move. I can save wear and tear on both by driving them different times. I have not regretted and I am actually glad I kept my 350z.

Just truing to tell you the change is absolutely there but it’s a good change. Atleast for me.
