Here’s a new option for upgrading your rear Diff.

(Stolen from ECGS’s Facebook by @ToyRyd04 because their pics are better than mine)
    E4ED60D8-1514-406F-A2A6-288BE05270E4.jpg

I broke two OEM ring gears in a month. Apparently, the 8” does not appreciate 35s, traction bars, or an extra 165 or so HP...

AND I was stepping up to 37s with TMI weld on Beadlocks that are 130lbs each. I obviously needed to do something.

So, I called up ECGS, because they are awesome. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they made an 05’ and up Tacoma Dana 60 that they had yet to advertise.

I received the 60 a couple of days ago. As always, I was totally impressed with the finished product.

This rear is 100% bolt in (other than having to have your Driveshaft shortened)

The axle retains your factory wheel speed sensors, and is designed to reuse your OEM axles, and drum brake assemblies. Although, I upgraded to 35 spline chromoly axles, and disc brakes. (SOS Performance disc brake kit that I had shipped to ECGS)

I also had an air actuated OX locker installed.

This axle comes with U-bolts (for the larger 3.5” diameter axle), and has brake line and wheel speed sensor wire tabs. It has shock mounts welded on. It truly is bolt in, plug and play.

As is their MO, ECGS went above and beyond. Stephen, the sales manager, requested that I send the disc brake kit to them so he could be certain that it would fit. They bent up the hard lines that didn’t come with the kit. They even sent the axle with wheel speed sensors already installed.

Did I mention that the axle is bolt in? :D

    Anyway, enough talk.

I want to take a second here to talk about ECGS themselves. I will preface this by saying that, other than being a very satisfied customer for years now, I have no affiliation with the company. I have received no discounts or special considerations for making this post.

Here are a few examples of the exceptional Customer service and business practices of ECGS:

    1) After having ECGS regear and put ARBs in both of my diffs, my rear ARB began leaking through the seals. This was three years after my initial regear.

I called them up just looking to purchase new seals. I was told that they had a five year warranty and to send it in.

I pulled the diff and shipped it to ECGS. I never asked what shipping would be or what I would be charged.

In the end, they paid for shipping both ways, and it cost me nothing.

2)I broke my rear Diff for the first time...

I again called up ECGS. Once again they covered it under warranty.

Not only that, they switched it from 4.56s to 4.88s for me, also under warranty.

This obviously meant that I also had to regear the front. They cut me an amazing deal on redoing the front diff as well. They also completely resealed the front ARB while they had it.

    3) I broke my rear Diff for the second time. Almost exactly a month after getting it back from the first time...

ECGS once again warrantied the diff, offering me a large credit towards the Dana 60 for returning the broken diff.

As I’ve noted above, they went above and beyond my expectations once again building the 60.

There is a reason that every time a thread pops up regarding regearing on here, the first response is normally “Call ECGS”.

I know they have a customer for life as far as I go.

I called Diamond. I did weigh my options. I spoke with someone there. They said they would get back to me with a quote. They did not...

Then, I realized, why I deal with ECGS. They ALWAYS answer the phone. They ALWAYS return your calls. They stand behind their products.

I actually called ECGS to ask about having a 9” built. They (Stephen) turned me onto the 60.

I was originally looking at the Currie fabricated 9” after seeing @jberry813 ’s write up.

The ECGS 60 has a 9.75” ring gear, so it’s stronger, more bolt in, and less expensive than the Currie 9”. The Currie Rock Jock 60 is even more expensive.

In the end, it was the cost, ease, and, more importantly, the customer service from ECGS, that made me go with their 60.

From my initial conversation, I got the impression that Diamond was a similar price point as Currie.

But, since they never got back to me, I can’t be sure.

I plumbed the OX locker today. It was really simple since I already had the ARB setup from before.

ECGS sent a new ARB solenoid With the correct fittings for the bigger diameter air line that runs to the OX.

As simple as removing the old solenoid, Installing the new one, re-attaching the vent line, and plugging in the new air line.

    ...too much shit to list.
    New axle looks great!

Question though. Where did you get a couple grand less expensive? Even with their new pricing, the Currie is $2300 (old pricing was $2000) and a third member from ECGS is $2000 loaded with an ARB.

    Capture.jpg

Also, do you know if ECGS does custom widths? Or is it only retaining factory WMS-WMS?
