5100s vs Dobinson Quick-Ride?

So, first impressions of the suspension on my short drive home. Absorbs bumps way better than the stock sport suspension did, don't feel the smaller bumps I did in stock suspension, and barely feel the larger ones that would thump hard on stock. Does bounce a little though? Not enough to annoy me, but something I noticed. Highway driving was fine, did bout 65mph with no issues (truck needs to still have alignment done though, so I'll wrap up the odd feelings to that). Only other thing, which I expected, was body roll when taking corners. Sport suspension had 0 roll, and now it has a slight roll in the suspension. Nothing for me to ever worry about, but threw me off, and need to get used to it. All in all, loving it. 2-3ft of snow this coming weekend, so will have more updates after I'm done blasting around and playing in that. Will have a bunch of drone videos of us playing too, so may upload those too.

is the lean still present with this kit? or should i order a trim spacer aswell? I just thought of this.

 

Honestly, don't know. Maine has extremely crowned roads, and our driveway has a crown to it also, so never really looked for it. I haven't noticed it, but also, as stated, wasn't looking for it. :/ sorry.

 

There should not be a lean with any of these kits. We’ve installed a bunch and they’ve all been level.

Looks like a great alternative to the 5100's. Interested to see what you think after you have a few more miles on them.

 

I'm getting ready to make a new thread talking about the suspension, tires and exhaust. Has a couple videos (little boring, but me cruising on back logging roads unplowed with 8-10" of snow during the current snow storm, and then doing roughly 55-60mph on a section that was plowed a few hours before with roughly 2-3" of snow on it.) This suspension soaks up the bumps like crazy, and keeps the tires planted. Not once did I feel uneasy during the whole trip. I'll post a link to the thread on here once I get it up.

I would be interested in the coils that are black. I went to the site and could not find them. Looking in doing a lift really soon on my 2018 TRD 4x4 long bed. I do more street and highway driving then off road but would like the truck to sit higher. Been wanting to do a 3" lift but I've read that with some 3" lift you start running into issues if you dont upgrade the UCA. Not really sure what my best option is.

 

If you had read my longer over winded review of these, I'm actually loving them. Changed how the truck feels on highway, backroads, cities, and dirt roads, all for the good. You said 2018 TRD Long Bed, but not specific if it's a Sport or OR, which will make a difference in what you'll be going from, and into as far as differences.

 

I have a white 2018 TRD 4x4 long bed. Not the Sport or Pro. Not sure what OR stands for, so it might be that one. I did read everything in this thread. I was looking at the Bilstein 5100 with AAL and OME 888 coils. I found a kit for around $1100 but then peiced together the same parts from the same seller that added up to $740, which I'm really confused why buying all those parts separately would be that much cheaper...hahahaha It is very well possible i have missed something.

My comment was to try and find the black coils, that Eric had mentioned. I rather not have the red ones. However I did just watched a video on YouTube of a Taco being left and the owner had powered coated other parts red that made it look way cooler looking and more custom, even though most of those parts were already in the truck. However that will require me to not have any truck for a while.

If you have the Rear end locker button up above your head in the center, you've got an OR (off road) also, if you don't have a hood scoop, it's an OR. If you have a Hood scoop, then it's a sport. The Dobinson will have a slightly stiffer feeling in the road then your stock OR suspension (if that's what you have) or a slightly softer ride than a Sport (if that's what you have)

Hood scoop = sport/pro
No scoop = Off Road/limited/sr5/sr

Yes, sorry I do have the off road model I thought I had mentioned that but reread my post and saw I only posted TRD, in which you questioned...lol
