I agree. I've had six Toyota trucks all but one manual. Low range is much more useful in the MTs with the 4.30 diffs.

I drive a manual in a city with lots of hills. But only a 7 min commute to work so no complaints here.

Manual or bust. If anyone ever asks me about if I mind the manual in traffic. I tell them I mind being in traffic, the clutch pedal doesn't have much to do with it. I've found it also helps out getting in/out of 4 hi & lo.

I drive mine in the city. This is my 3rd manual Tacoma, I've had one of each generation. I like the control of the manual and when I'm not in the city I enjoy driving corners with some excitement which a manual does better. Nothing like going into a corner at the perfect speed and powering out of the apex. I know it's not a sports car, I've had those but it's way more fun than auto. I also like the way a manual tows over an automatic.

I’m in stop in go traffic quite a bit. I actually prefer the manual to my old auto Tacoma in traffic. When everyone else is riding their brakes I just shift to neutral a coast forward ever so slowly. It really doesn’t feel like more work than an auto. Plus it’s more enjoyable.

My wife strenuously disagrees with that line of thinking: “that’s offensive. I’m not at all manly.”

She hated driving until I showed her the stick.

    Um I mean. This: :burnrubber:

That honestly sounds like a way better trip. My 16 year old son and I were driving down to Florida a couple years ago after Hurricane Matthew caused I-95 to get shut down in South Carolina. He drove and I navigated through fire roads and small towns, we had a blast doing it and he learned some land nav skills.

Sorry for the de-rail, just made me think of this.

I do but the city here is not like big cities (ATL, NY, etc). Only takes 5 minutes to get out in the country. Either way though I'm one of the people who truly doesn't mind a manual in traffic. That's everyone's first go to against manuals and I get it but it's just not the case for me. Even in deep traffic I'd rather be in a manual than an auto. Traffic sucks don't get me wrong but it's not better in an auto, for me.

I daily drive my truck in the city and drove it recently in LA traffic, all I can say LA traffic is nowhere close to Toronto, stop whining.

You either know how to drive or make excuses and blame traffic. :notsure:

As much as I like driving a manual, I’d never take my truck close to NYC

I learned how to drive on a MT. It’s no big deal. If you know what you’re doing, you don’t even have to think about it...you just do it. I can’t stand it when I hear people whine about driving “in traffic” or “in the city” or “up hills” with a manual. Hey, I got news for you...you don’t know how to drive stick.
