NW/Helotes here. I see a few modded tacos around here. My raptor had a rogue racing bumper and light bar, KO2’s and was usually dirty.

I give you props for wanting to cross into a taco after being in a raptor. To give you some perspective...your raptor had equivalent of a +2 LT kit compared to a stock tacoma in terms of suspension. You could go the SUA (spring under axle) route with a shock relocate if you wanted to replicate to a degree what your raptor had in terms of shock travel although the raptor is SOA. It will be cool to see how your time in the taco is in comparison in the long run.

That’s an interesting approach to getting the shock travel. I really enjoyed the feeling of being able to go over most whatever I wanted without slowing to a crawl. There’s really no feeling like it. It was like a giant off road hot rod Cadillac!

Yea man I feel ya...Im LT and I dont think I could drive a stock taco anymore. That said after moving to Arizona I see raptors everywhere here, which is not helping the enticement of getting a newer one that might have better MPG? I also drive fast as well, so being LT was what I needed.

My 6.2 got 12.5 mpg pretty much no matter what I did. It was a bit demoralizing at times. The 17.5 mpg is kinda nice! I am conscious about keeping efficiency high with the taco. We shall see how I adhere to that idea. It should be a fun build and ride.

It seems like your best off with a King/Icon setup talk to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and she'll be able to give you a good price on a set. If you want fast rebuild-able shocks, then those two kits seem to be best for ya. Although you'll be paying more compared to counterparts, many on here can vouch for the performance

I liked Bilstein 5100s all around on my ‘05 DC OR 4x4. Stock height but they did very well for the money. I’m looking to get back into a Taco, probably another OR 2nd gen. I hope to go with 6112 coilovers in the front and 5160s in the back. Whether I lift it or not.
