The local off-road store didn’t have the ditch lights, so I figured this would be a good alternative. I don’t mind drilling to add the lights, just curious if anyone has done it before

Thanks. It was pretty straight forward. I used the light bar brackets that mount to the crash bar and come out through the lower valance bumper space, and then the cubes bolt right to the bracket. Just be sure the measure the pods you plan to use and the lower valance gap to make sure they'll fit.

So the guy quoted me at ~300 cad for the two cubes and the install. That feels a bit steep for me, what do you think ?

I try to do most installs myself, so i'm not too familiar with shop prices, but that does sound steep. I can't imagine it would take a competent shop more than an hour (1 hour of labor + price of cubes)

Yeah, I ended up deciding against it after. I can likely fab my own brackets and install myself for about 150-180$. They wanted almost 85$ for labour. The only reason i was considering getting the shop to do it is that im not crawling around in the snow for a few hours to install them lol. Going to be a summer project.

Thanks for this! Did you have to Dremel holes in the grill to allow the brackets to come through and make space for the cubes? Or is it possible to thread the brackets through the plastic without cutting away any material? All I can find online are install instructions for a full-length light bar, which requires you to Dremel out the entire plastic lattice of that lower grill.

No problem! I did use a dremel to cut out only the outermost plastic lattice pieces (only a few inches on each side). It is possible to do it without cutting, but I
wanted to make sure there was no obstruction with the light pods and that they would sit right. I typically don't like cutting, but I priced a few lower valance replacement pieces on oem replacement parts websites and they only run about 80 bucks if I ever want to remove the pods and sell the truck.

Why not cube fogs and a 30” light bar? Cutting the lattice out of the bottom bumper is an option. You don’t have to. Buy the mounts redrill the bar mounting holes an inch or so back and then mount it. I have less than 100$ in my fogs and light bar.

Resurrecting and old thread. I had some cube lights gifted to me. Thought I would experiment a bit. Found some inexpensive lower grill light bar brackets. I like what is shown in this thread but not the sideways light installation…I am just OCD enough. I was thinking of getting the mounting behind the light instead of the side. It would place the light further back. Just curious with the passage of time if others have done something like this. I really like Fluffmonkey’s install so I may just stay simple and follow his lead. Thanks!
