If the kid pays for full coverage insurance the wreck should be covered. That's the whole point of paying a company money every month that they then invest to turn huge profits. I'm not paying my insurance for fun, I'm paying it to ensure my truck will be fixed or I'll be paid no matter how the truck gets damaged.

We've been through this sort of thing on TW before, aka truck jumping with massive damage, and attempted insurance fraud. Don't have the video handy of James and his Amazing Jumping Truck (stock edition).

Sure we did stupid shit - but we weren't so desperate for attention that we recorded it. That's the thing this generation doesn't get - you'll get that attention you crave, but it won't all be positive. Get over yourself.

A motor vehicle isn’t a toy being stupid and driving recklessly to “have some fun” as someone stated and then filing an insurance claim. Just as stupid as posting the video on social media. Guarantee the kid wasn’t honest with the insurance company. Reasons our rates go up. California Department of Insurance Fraud has been notified and will investigate claims in the area surrounding Calabasas.

In my opinion, the “hate” we see here has reasonable grounds.

In the past, a vehicle that nice would be something a person worked towards. In my case, this still holds true. I drove a 1993 Camry for many years before buying my present truck, with cash, as reward to myself for paying off my mortgage.

When I see this young guy (jackass etc) destroy his truck, in a example of terrible driving, post his idiotic episode on Instagram, then comment “on to the next”, I can’t help but feel a bit cheesed. Not necessarily at the kid himself, but just at North American society in general. A world where totalling a new truck simply elicits “on to the next” is just not that compelling to me.

In my opinion, if the truck is just another disposable item in the kid’s life of privilege and excess, than the kid is just as disposable in my view. Fuck ‘em.

The hate comes from the fact he posted it on social media and said on to the next one. Yeah we all fuck up and do stupid shit, but we're also not dumb enough to post it on social media trying to be the next jackass star.

That and this kind of stupidity makes offroading look bad, it takes one stupid fuck up to screw the rest of us over completely and close a road somewhere so that we have less to enjoy.

Way to be a dick. If the kid pays for insurance and wrecks his truck his insurance should cover it. That’s the whole point of having insurance.

Sure it is a toy, even for us adults. He wasn’t driving on city streets like an idiot. There is a sign on the side of the dirt road. Why wouldn’t insurance cover it? It was an accident, he didn’t purposely roll the truck. What fraud has been committed? Is that a county road, I mean it did have a sign posted. I don’t know all insurance rules but if it was a public road why wouldn’t it be covered?

Come on man, driving through a puddle is not making off-roading look bad. Cutting new trails, driving around gates, cutting down fencing to go wheeling makes off-roading look bad. Off road parks make mud puddles/pits for us do exactly what the kid did. He lost control and crashed. So what, he posted it for our enjoyment. He didn’t do a stunt to be the next “jackass” star. No different then a kid trying to do wheelie on his dirt bike and looping it.

Insurance does cover stupidity. Home owners is way worse than auto with companies covering dumb mistakes.

I think individual state laws will dictate whether or not what he did was an intentional act and non-insurable.
However I think its a good chance its covered. But I bet his ass gets dropped or hes paying $200/mo for basic liability.

Exactly! My only point was being honest to insurance about how it happened. If they don’t ask, that’s on them. If they do and still pay, that is also on them.

People get hurt or killed doing such things.
Its not that he was being reasonable and made a mistake.
He made a consiously dumb choice that could have resulted in injury to himself and others.
Hes got a brand new truck and then acts like its no big deal when he rolls it. Its arrogant and stupid.

That’s life. We all make stupid decisions sometimes and exceed our limitations. Usually you don’t flip your truck over but it happens. I’ve flipped/rolled four wheelers, dirt bikes, snowmachines, mountain bikes, etc, trying to do fun stuff that was probably a little too far beyond my skill level. It all comes down to what you decide is an acceptable loss in the pursuit of a good time. Maybe $35k is pocket change to this kid or his Dad.

He drove through a mud puddle at like 30mph on a secluded road by himself. The only person he might hurt is himself. Don’t twist it to make it sound like more then it was. A 20 year old truck or a new truck doesn’t matter. It’s not like he can hide the fact he rolled the truck from his parents. Why not post the video and let people have fun at your own expense.

Just shut the fuck up already. You can’t justify his stupid actions. Go hug another snowflake to make yourself feel better.
