do they exist for 3rd gens yet? If not, are they planning to make one? Are there other repair manuals out there?

    Thanks.

I emailed them in December, it will be available soon.

Here is one of the responses I got:

Since it just arrived you may not be able to get it through our website but you might be able to get it through our order desk. Not completely sure, but give them a call at 1-800-442-9637 Ext. 100 and ask if the new version of 92077 is available.

Again, thank you for your interest in Haynes automotive/motorcycle manuals.

    Best regards,

    Great news!! Thank you.

I wonder what took them so long to come out with it.

I believe that the internet has impacted the popularity of these manuals.

I was glad when I got the response from Haynes that they were publishing the 3rd gen Tacoma version.

I still research repairs, but I like a hard copy description with photos/ pictures when I "wrench".

I also use it as a log of maintenance/ repairs.

I was happy you started the thread- I would have done so after I got a copy, but I think more than a few TW members will be glad to know one is coming out.

Same here, I’d rather have a hard copy.

Bentley as far as I know does not have a 3rd Gen out ....my old computer is shutting down but I have relied on Bentley for just about ever vehicle I have owned!

I still have my Haynes repair manual for my 1984 Toyota Pick-Up (-2nd Gen) and 1990 (-1st Gen). After a while I realized 80% of the material in Haynes is universal to any vehicle, with about 20% relevant to specific vehicles. The vehicle specific things are now easily interneted.

All of my previous Haynes manuals have my greasy fingerprints all over the cover and pages, so I will definitely be getting a 3rd Gen Haynes manual when they become available. Thanks for all of the above info.

^THIS^ Best analogy on the OP

TBH you'll find more exact and accurate info right here on TW than anywhere else, sometimes even with pictures. For videos, youtube has a lot on our trucks.

Those Chilton manuals are really only suitable to general maintenance, and even a simple oil/filter change is better defined here on TW. For more particular info, you can start a thread and someone will either provide the info, a link to the info or just tell you to search and leave you dry. Just ignore those.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

I still like having a paper maintenance manual too.

A FSM is what you want if you are doing real work.

Haynes is good for torque specs (sometimes) and serves as a nice fire starter during emergencies.

But honestly, 90% of routine maintenance can be done either intuitively or via internet for beginners.

If you want to invest in a tool to help with diagnostics, buy TechStream and set it up on an old laptop.

These guys are still in business? The latest editions my local Canadian Tire has are for like 198X Civics and 199X Chevrolet Luminas. And they are stained yellow so bad you'd think they were set on the floor next to a gas station urinal for a few decades

Arrived just now, not really specific to the six cylinder third gen, a lot of "later model similar" and such, looks like they just phoned it in...fwiw

So it’s not specific to the 3rd gen? That sucks.
