It's probably nothing but I just want to know what the heck it is.
My truck was sitting for a good week in heavy rain. I also flushed my coolant system, added a new radiator etc etc. Work done, warmed up the car and let it run for 20 minutes. Everything so far, excellent. Then I notice a small puddle of water on the ground behind my passenger side tire. It's coming from here:

You can see the water drip from the hole which comes from the firewall on the passenger side.

I drove the truck around the block and now no water. What is that hole and why was there water coming out of it?

That's the drain for the ac evaporator. It's normal to drip out of there when the ac is on. There's actually supposed to be a J shaped tube sticking out of there.

Good to know, thank you! And I'll look into getting a proper tube for it.

The drain tube is discontinued, the p/n is 88894-04070. There's one on ebay right now for $6 but it's much cheaper to make & not that hard. Don't actually need it though.

The tube just directs it to drip on the exhaust to evaporate off. I actually ran a hose on mine further towards the back like about where the back of the front door would be.

    Looks like this.

Thanks again! I think I have something laying around in my garage I can use. Yeah, makes sense to have it drip on the exhaust. Running a hose to direct it is even better. As it is now, the drip was right on a frame rail than trickles down.

Yeah, I just ran to Autozone and grabbed a few of their scrap hose in different gauges until I found the one that fit because my truck didn't have the hose when I bought it. After fixing the A/C all the water pooled underneath the carpet on the passenger side. Luckily I found out because my backpack got wet

    Took a closer look.

If drain water has been dripping on my frame since 2002 (new), I have to say the frame looks to have held up fairly well.

The AC evaporator drain (rubber stub) pokes out of the firewall. Measures 9/16" OD.

I used a funnel, cut it, and clamped it to the stub.

However, use a hose. I'm afraid the funnel will get too much heat from the header and exhaust.

My drain tube is pointless. The only rust on the vehicle is all it's caused. Going to add a rubber hose straight to the ground.

Thanks! I don't see/hear it and it passed smog but that could be a good reason for new upgrades!
