2017 SR5 Double Cab. I bought it new from a dealer in Phoenix, however the truck was originally shipped from the factory to a dealership in Oklahoma before ending up in Phoenix. I haven't really paid any attention to this thing before, it wasn't until yesterday when I got under the dash to look for the trailer brake controller plug that I noticed this thing is aftermarket and has a button on the bottom. My initial thought was some sort of an aftermarket alarm, but it doesn't blink or anything and the dealer I bought it from made no mention of it. The button doesn't seem to do anything when I press it (with the truck on or off) and the wire goes up into the dash further than I can see or feel.

Does seem like an alarm button. Only say that because it looks to be 'disguised' as a OBD port

From a search: "I've seen alot of these on new cars/dealership lots. It seems to be a dealer ignition/door kill switch. When I was shopping for a car at a major dealer, that had one of these on almost all the cars. It allowed the guy to unlock and lock the doors to any car it had been installed on."

"This is a deactivated KARR alarm that most honda dealers install on all new vehicles. They do this for property control on their lot, and try and upsell you by tacking $500 or so on the price as a "more advanced alarm". What they really did was install a cheap piece of chinese crap, disabled it with the black connector you see at the end of that thing they screwed into the dash of your car, and cut/ hacked up all your factory wiring harnesses to add the alarm on. The first thing I did when I bought my Civic was to rip all that garbage out and throw it away. Took about an hour to rip it out and undo all the damaged/cut wiring. A friend of mine had one of these on his Accord. It failed in the middle of a cross country road trip and stranded him. I highly recommend having it totally removed and the factory wiring restored."

Wow, thanks for finding that. Now I'm kind of irritated. I checked my factory window sticker and there is no mention of any sort of alarm or security system under optional equipment and the dealership didn't disclose this. I don't like the idea of my factory wiring being altered without them telling me.

I saw this a while back on a thread. 99% sure it’s an alarm add on. Check your sticker from the purchase and see if it’s listed.

KARR Alarm is the absolute worst system ever made, had that shit already dealer installed on my 1st gen, stopped working along with my power locks. Had to pay $100 to take it out and put back to stock.
