I recently purchased a new (used) engine harness so I didn't have to repair a handful of plugs on mine. Upon install I noticed the one I purchased is missing a plug, vvt sensor I think. Is it considered a reliable repair to cut the old one off with a few inches of wire and solder the wires together with the new harness?

I would be worried the solder would break when the wire is flexed. But I really dont know shit

Add some heat shrink and you should be fine. I have done this on ATV wire harnesses and had no issues even after a weekend of mud riding.

IDK of anything more reliable than solder and heat shrink, but I'm all ears

Are pins available to take the plug apart and repin it? Or would it be worth the hassle of taking it out, returning it, and finding a new one? I was an hour and a half into the install when I noticed it.

    Reserected from the dead.
Get the heat shrink tubing that has the sealent inside. You will have connection that is more durable than an uncut wire.
