Morning. Happy Monday (please read that in a sarcastic tone). -1F... Power is on and there's a lot of branches down in the neighborhood. Other than that, everything is fine.

Take a moment to recall it's Rev. MLK day, & remember the lineman that was killed in the line of duty in Newtown yesterday.
It's a shame when we lose someone trying to make things better for others, so take a moment to consider them in your thoughts today.

 

Anyone have any recommendations for a freight company here in new England? Preferably one with pickup locations in CT or central MA. Thanks

 

At my job we use a company called Pilot Freight a lot. They have an office here in CT.

What are you looking to move? Personal stuff, or work related stuff?

 

@surfandturf, there's also another "smaller" company we use here and there, called Blanchard Transportation (BTS).

They're based out of Stamford.

Pilot Freight is bigger, but I think BTS works with other companies as well... might be "expensive", their rates, not sure to be honest with you though. But doesn't hurt to reach out and see I guess. At least it'll give you a starting point.

My buddy is an arborist I can talk to him if you want me to. He recently got out but still does side jobs. He is also not insured but he knows what he is doing
I had him drop a 100' oak tree that was leaning over my house

Take plenty of pictures and back them up on a flash drive too. You'll need it

 

LOL. She painted, and I taped off trims, etc, so she would smudge it all.

Yeah, got it back a few minutes after I got home from work. Apparently a branch fell on a wire, caused something to short out. Crew came out super quick and took care of it. The wife and kids were all packed up and ready to go to the in-laws, the in-laws were here, and just as I was getting my stuff together it came back.

 

Glad to hear that. It would be a bad night to be without power! It’s about 5 degrees outside (northern Westchester)

 

Yeah... It's probably about that over here as well. My main concern would have been the pipes freezing.

 

yup - it sucks when that happens. Pipes froze (and burst) an my mom's house years ago. When they unfroze, the water leaked everywhere. A great big crappy and messy job! And i never want to go through that again.

 

That's my main concern when it gets this cold, buts it's been ok so far.
