Headlight conversion

so i purchased a new set of headlight fronts for pretty cheap, not worried about them one bit, what I am wondering is has anyone done a converson on a 1st gen from lamps to say LED, or HID. If so recomendations on a kit.... LED would be ideal, i just got 2 bars and would like to stay consistant if possible.

i did some reserach and you can adjust them so it does not blind incoming traffic.

 

Look into the TRS ongoing group buy for HID conversion kits

 

HIDs are easy to put in these days. All you need is an oven and a few basic tools. Hardest part is removing the grille and shit.

 

7x6 housings will require custom work to fit a projector in there. ive made 3 sets myself. nothing a dremel and some jb weld cant handle.

Had very good luck with these. Had them in my Cummins. Have them in my 96 and my 09 Tacoma. Had them in my ford escort. My Toyota Corolla. Wife’s Nissan Pathfinder to. Never an issue

I have sealed beam lamps. What did you replace the sealed beams with to install the LEDs in?

 

7x6 plastic housings off eBay. Go on eBay type in 7x6 headlight. Any of them that don’t have the bulb made into them will work

 

Match it with the cheapest ebay LED bulbs you can find. 100k lumens set for $9.98 will do. There is no reason to pay more if you are going to put crap on your truck anyay.

I think 1200 watts is a little over-kill! Having to by a much higher amperage alternator is a bit much. The sealed beam halogens are 55/65 watts! They just aren't enough when driving at night and all the newer vehicles headlights are blinding. I just want to be able to see, not blind anyone and get a hefty ticket in the process. I appreciate the advice, but there has to be a more moderate solution! lol!

 

Seriously read the link in post Headlight conversion, then once you understood the technology get e-coded Hella and decent set of H4 bulbs (Phillis, Osram). With e-code Hella you will find that you don't need more power than road legal halogen H4 bulb. This is the only way to go.

 

Unless you put LED projectors in the 7x6 housing.

 

I wouldn't mine doing this but there are no LED projectors that put out enough lumens and have a wide pattern. Most LED designed headlights now have multiple LEDs to provide the lighting needed for the length and width.
