Great write ups. Thank you for taking the time. I know it isn't easy.
GFC #395...that means you need to check out Owens Valley traveling on HWY 395. :D

I used to take 2-3 yellow lid storage totes on most trips. One is for firewood, one kitchen, and the last is general camp gear like stove/tarps/etc. After selling my FWC and getting a custom made Tradesman topper I now only bring one tote for firewood. I've been truck camping/exploring for the past ten years and have learned a lot in that time. It is an ongoing learning experience but I know what I need for specific trips. Sounds like most of us who enjoy this type of outdoor experience have a similar experience.

If you like the Kelty loveseat I also suggest checking out their deluxe loungechair. The deluxe chairs recline making star gazing less straining on the neck/back.

Absolutely! I'm glad people have enjoyed the trip reports. I look forward to doing more.

Exactly. I think it's about learning what you actually use. Last time we did a weekend of camping I brought a space box. Anything we used went into the new box, if we didn't use something it stayed in the old box. It helped us narrow down the junk we bring.

That deluxe lounge chair looks comfy! I'll be keeping an eye out for a good sale on them.

Man just read your trip report after being a month off taking care of my newborn and back in the office chair

Greatly written, while in Hurricane did you purposely forgo going to Toquerville Falls? And Alstrom Point is such a magical place, wife and I were the only ones up there when we went, quite windy tho.

Problem with that part of Utah is you really have to pick and choose what you want to do. You could fill WEEKS with all the small roads between Hurricane and Escalante.

Damn true, had to skip out on so many things I wanted to see because of time constraints, not to mention afraid of going alone and not having another vehicle to help.

If I ever head back to Utah it'd be for the Manti-La Sal Mountains, but I'm likely doing an Eastern Sierra or Northwest CA (Redwoods) big trip for summer

I’ve heard there is a lot to explore alround Hurricane but for us it was just a starting point. Since we started the day in Vegas we were just trying to make up the miles. We definitely want to go back and explore more of it!

I could have stayed and relaxed at Alstrom a week. It was incredible! We were a little slow leaving that morning for sure.

Not sure if you said it somewhere in this thread, but what time of the year did you do this trip? Would like to do the Utah Taverse in 2019 if I have time and I'm trying to figure out the best time of the year to do this.

We started on October 13th and the weather was just about perfect. There were a few trails that had snow so maybe a week or two earlier would be better. :notsure:

Hmm, I am considering doing this in late May or in September. I don’t like snow so I will definitely be avoiding October-March haha

Sweet! Let me know what you think. I’m going to try and get part 4 done this weekend. The Christmas break really slowed me down, but I want to get these done so we can start doing some more videos!

Mid-October is when the question marks start happening. Plus we got a few early storms this year. Last fall/winter was FAR milder, so it really just depends on the year.

September should be pretty safe. The first half of the month will prob be pretty warm still, but then the temps will just drop off one day and go straight to cold.

For your wife's motion sickness. I get it really bad and I'm the driver. I wear one earplug and it helps tremendously. It throws off your equilibrium. Left or right ear depends if I want to hear the other side of the truck or not. I also found that ditching the sweets and sticking to proteins helped though it sounds like you had protein type snacks. Bonine or other drugs don't seem to help and the patch makes my vision blurry and a metallic taste in my mouth. But try the ear plug.

Funny counterstory: Back when my granddad was sailing over to Europe to fight the Jerrys, He got super sea sick. All he could stomach for 2 weeks was Hershey bars.
