Whatever you do I wouldn't raise the front if you don't have to...another inch worth of preload on your Kings will make the ride way stiffer in the front. How much front lift do you have with them now?

Surprised to hear the Dakars are stiff...when I had them the only thing I liked about them was how smooth they were, even with an AAL added they were smoother than the Expos I have now. The All Pros are pretty stiff but they hold weight much better than the Dakars did.

I was getting roughly 3" of lift initially but it has already dropped to just 1.5" up front. May need to increase coil weight to get a little more lift without pre-load

Yup that's the ticket. That much preload for 3" is way too much for the OEM bolt in Kings, kills the ride. I had mine set to that as well when I first installed them and it was awful, my 5100s/881s rode way smoother. Dropped them down to 2.25" inches and it's better but still not as good as it should be. I need to up my spring rating as well

are you running 650 or 700? I don't plan on running a plate bumper or anything (double cab v6). leaning towards 650 but don't want to have to change out springs twice

Revalve your shocks. If your not going for speed off-road it'll ride stiffer on the road. But if you valve them soft then they will bottem out off-road going fast.

Can do some flutter stack trickery to kind of get best of both worlds.

Either way. Revalve your shocks. Not your lift.

I have the 600# springs that they came with. I don't run any additional weight except a steel skid, so I either need to add more weight like a front bumper, or increase the spring rating so I can lessen the preload. Was thinking of going with the 650# springs to see if that helps. I think the preload for the lift is what's killing the ride quality for me.

So if I have 600# springs but no additional front end weight, rather than trying 650# springs it would be better to keep the 600s and revalve the shocks?

Why are you guys wanting so much lift?

I have like 1" with my kings on 600s with a plate bumer and it's great.

Hell yes. 650s are too much for a stock truck.

600s with no lift ride super plush. Mine did. Loved them.

Good to know, glad we brought this topic up. I do want to add a bumper in the future but I always figured the 600s would be enough for one so long as it wasn't crazy heavy. I'll look into a revalve instead

If it's just a bumper you'll be fine. Just change the valving. Will make a bigger difference

I have a ~55 lb steel skid but that's it so far. Will be doing a steel bumper in the future

Well you should be fine. What I have now.

Unless you're wanted 3" lift which is dumb anyways.

If you add a winch. Up the rate.

I certainly don't want/need the extra lift. The Dakar leafs currently have me sitting at 1" of rake and that is with a topper on the truck. Wanting to eliminate that rake without killing the ride. Dropping the 3rd leaf or an overload seems like the other viable option at this point

Honestly the only reason I have the lift I have now is that I can't lower it with my 33s or they rub bad. Tried before which is why I keep it at 2.25" up front. They rub already as it is under the right offroad conditions despite the trimming. I know that's venturing into wheel backspacing topic territory but it's what I'm working with unfortunately with my wheels lol.

I do want to play around with my SPC adjustments and see if I can make it better that way.

I will certainly look into revalving to improve the ride. Thank you for the feedback, that is what I was looking for

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Making a bit more progress on the 4x conversion.

Re-booted the CVs over the weekend.

Also picked up a rear driveline, so I won't have down time waiting for the front half of my existing driveline to be cut down and balanced.

I'll be replacing g the Carrier Bearing... Anyone have the part number of the nut at the CB?

What kind of CVs are those? Never seen blue shaft ones

    Edit: manual hub CVs?
