Hello Austin, coming to Austin for first time, in April for MoroGP. We’ll be staying downtown at the Hilton. Hoping you all could give us recommendations for restaurants - regional fare- and breweries not too far from downtown?
Or other must do Austin events, attractions?

 

This is a great idea, the best way to go about planning a trip like this is for you to plan it, come up with an itinerary and select dates set in stone. Then we can make a flyer and push it as an Official TTC Event and spread the word to all members. Then whomever wants to go and can during those dates can chime in etc.

Don't leave it to the "masses" or nothing will get done. And avoid trying to accommodate the schedule to people's needs or it'll become an endless cycle of delays.....

When we head to the beach with our family, I will make an itinerary with the time I'm leaving Austin, what grocery store I'll be stopping at and at what time they can expect to catch us there, what beach we'll end up camping at and the approximate mile marker they can find us at. It's hard to wrangle so many people since everyone has varying schedules. This way some will leave with us, others will catch up at one of our stops. And others won't arrive til the next morning!

I generally just say "I'm going to be doing this on these dates. Come if you can." and continue on with my life since it's like herding cats rounding up people for a meet and working it into everyone's schedule. I can't make it work for everyone and so those that miss out can try for the next meetup. I miss stuff all the time because of work but I dont take it personally I just shoot to try and make the next one.
