What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Where is the switch located? If you want it to the left of the steering wheel its super easy. All you do is remove a 10mm bolt by moving the driver kick panel out of the way and removing the bolt, then under the coin tray you'll see a small rectangular cover and once you remove it you'll see the other bolt. remove both bolts and the lower dash and gauge cluster just pop right out with a little tug.

 

The only blanks are the small buttons in the area of the cig lighter. I did find a little vid of what you explained and I suppose the rest isn't much harder.

 

Those center ones by the cig lighter are a pain in the ass to get the frame removed for. You have to tear apart 90% of the dash in some form. I did it when I replaced a cig lighter with a voltmeter/USB charger and it took forever. driver side passenger side all had to come lose in some spot.

*edit* However if you can just pop them out with a screwdriver and snake wires without having to remove dash parts do it! it will save you tons of time!

 

Dangit! I prefer easy so maybe will try the snake method. Thought about having a shop do it but it seems so straightforward I'd hate to pay for it.

 

Finally trimmed past (THE NEXT BOLT) in my fender liners with my never ending quest to “stop the rubbing”. Them I detailed it & used a new spray wax on my drying step (beadmaker) so far, it’s legit. Also, team #notireshinegang

The Taco will need a good, GOOD wash when we get to Monterey.

 

Without going back and reading, and reading, and reading, I wanted to ask, what are the things about the 3rd Gen Tacos that is so bad? Thanks in advance. Don't holler at me I am old ammit.

If you want to get really fancy, @Spencer did the same thing here, but he added a timer so that the horns would activate after the car was driving for a while. Great fun. It's a lot funnier when it suddenly happens 10 miles down the road and he has to drive around like that until he figures out what gives.

Where are you trying to wire them to? I ran mine to a CH4x4 small Toyota push switch in the center panel under the AC knobs

Nope. Just remove the switch blanks and run a straightened out clothes hanger through to under the dash, tape the wires to it and pull it back through. The switch blanks can be removed with a feeler gauge or if your not going to save them just run a screw a couple threads into them and pull it out. If you want to go nuts you can remove the center console and access them but it’s not necessary
