I wish we had more snow! Still got out to our cabin to let Ren run around though, he loves the snow and I got to play with my GoPro

Well, it may or may not be a Snow storm this weekend, So on a whim I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XXZML19/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    upload_2019-1-16_8-2-7.jpg

Time will tell if i need them, if anything expensive leveling blocks haha.

What's that old saying? it's better to have them and not need them but need them and not have any traction device?

Also, I know, I know Winch. But if I want a winch I need to reinforce the frame plates and get longer bolts to mount the bumper to.

What did you use to make the different compartments? I really like that. Looks like come corrugated sheet plastic stuff and duct tape.

I just bought some of these: TSM Coroplast Correx Poster Corrugated Plastics Sheets Sign Blank Board (24"x18"x4mm., 5-pack/blacks) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPVP1KB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VGjrCb20NE63J

Yard staples slide between the openings, and the tape is to help keep the staples from coming up on rough roads!

Stainless carriage bolts, flutted knobs, and misc hardware in my garage and about 5 min of time lol

Also looking at the roof rack pic you only have two traction boards. I personally highly highly recommend getting 4. I feel yourchances if getting unstuck with one at each tire is much better and should the situation arise you can lay them end to end to kinda make a roadway. Also with 4 in an offcamber situation you can lay them all down on the low side to try to make a shelf to drive along. In all these situations obviously more is better but anymore than 4 just becomes too impractical to carry. Here’s a few pics of some road building0063D173-E672-49E0-A625-A20486A4544A.jpg518FA22C-CCAC-4DAE-87F8-B056BB575BCB.jpg

One more thing. One tip I always pass along is try to get the board as flat as possible. Most people just throw them at the tires and expect magic. Then they don’t work and they post online that traction boards are garbage. I find if you take a minute or two to dig out a little infront of the tires and get the boards in pretty flat. Doing that they will get you out “almost” every time.

Sorry for the information flood but I know you do a lot of solo travel so I figured I’d stock you up on some info lol

No need to apologize! How else do people learn I love it!

I agree I think having 4 would be a smart choice, and I also agree that making them flat should help distribute the load as there wouldn't be a fulcrum point for the board to break on!

Also, Snow chains are on the list! I have an evernote list of recovery gear to get, and snow chains are on there for sure! (Engo Winch, snatch strap, @Chux soft shackles, tree saver, etc)

One thing while i'm thinking out loud, is that the colder it is, the more the "cheaper" traction boards will crack. Just by the feel of the cheap boards I got, i'd be surprised if they lasted through 1 winter extraction lol

P.S. So down to do the swisha loop lol

Yea a few of mine cracked pretty good after the last time they got used. It doesn’t stop them from doing their job though. Just don’t burnout on them that’s what ruins them. If you don’t pop right out of your stuck take a second to rethink things and adjust.

Swisha is definilty a good trip. Been rumblings of going back in a couple years or so

Yeah, I fixed it right after I took this photo haha. I was used to the ST Maxx that had lugs that helped keep the straps in place

Apparently a bunch of firewood loosened it up a bit!

Haha trust me I'm OCD too, even thought I fixed it, the straps aren't symmetrical so when it's a bit warmer out that's on my to do list lol
