Since I only have an OEM grille I can’t give you a direct comparison but I can say that it is somewhat semi gloss.

I was in conflict as well. When dealing with the grille you are talking about the face of the truck not some part that no one will ever see. So I went with the OEM- being a Costco purchase I had a coupon for $200.- off but even then I probably paid too much. However, it does give me piece of mind to know that if I resale the truck it is fitted with OEM parts. BTW- you do not have to stick the "TOYOTA" letters on the grille with double sided tape- its a trademark issue for the knockoffs.

The OEM has a satin sheen compared to the matte black of my previous eBay grille.

$73 for mine. No garnish and tss works perfect on my 2018. Have had it in extreme temps and snow storms and works just fine. Had the clean sensor error for a few days after install but cleared up after 100 miles. Had to adapt to the new obstruction being in a slightly different spot then the stock off road grill.
My letters did not require double sided tape. Just 4 screws to attach TOYOTA to the main grill.

    $86... and no letters .....
Oh well hope they are in a second package being sent . Maybe a return to sender and getting a refund. I doubt it since the email I got said
“item received”. Sad because the grill does look good.

Oh well. Live and learn. Something that cheap is either a scam or garbage.

I spent $269.00 for the OEM:

    Grille
    Longer pigtail for TSS
Correct speed nuts for the TSS to grille install
    TSS cover plate

    Delivered

I feel better knowing I have the real deal.

Can anyone who has had the faux grille for a couple years chime in on how the finish has held up? I've seen else where the finish fades, flakes, letters falling off etc.

I've had both and don't see the faux grilles aging well over time. The differences I've noticed as others said is the color/finish is different the faux is flat black the OEM is more of a satin finish. The tabs on the faux are flimsy and broke off during installation but didn't have any issue with the OEM piece installing. If you're patient you can find a sitewide 15-20% coupon on ebay and get an OEM grille for around ~$250

Bilsteins 5100s on the top setting, 4runner Gray TRD Pro Sema wheels, 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s, Sumo Bump stops, TRD exhaust, ECGS Clamshell bushing, 1/4 shim for the lean and one inch rear block, OEM Pro grill and garnish OEM TRD Skid plate, TRD CAI, Demon Brackets, Rigid Industries Pro fog lights, OEM Trail Rails sidebars, Diode Dynamics LED SL1 high and low beam lights, OEM Roof racks, Clazzio leather heated seats, Remote Start, TRD Pro shift knob, tinted windows, Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp for the headunit and sub and amp combo, OEM Puddle lights, OEM tailgate lock, OEM bed mat, LED interior lights, OEM blackout kit for letters, JLT catch can, upgraded 27F toyota True Start battery, Vleds led tail light kit with Pro tail lights, OEM Rave4 side mirrors with convex spotters, just to name a few mods.
You can get an OEM grill and the garnish for $250. That's what I paid! People give some a bunch of shit for putting on cheap spacer liftes on a 30k plus truck but not for putting a cheap Chinese knockoff grill on. I'm not saying all the fake ones are bad, some are and some aren't. Spend a little more for better quality, better finish and a piece of mind.

I have seen hundreds of Pro grills, and I have never been able to tell the difference. I have never seen one missing a letter.

There are probably no problems with the replica. Really comes down to you. I like having authentic parts and OEM so I went OEM. Nothing more. Probably 1/2 of the Heritage grilles you see around town are from ebay and they look just as good and to the naked eye, you couldn't tell the difference as it drives by.

Just look up TRD Pro Grille Tacoma. A lot of sellers only sell 10 at a time and delete the posting, I’m assuming to avoid any attention from Toyota. The seller I bought from has since then deleted the ad, I can’t find it in Email’s or my eBay. Wait for an eBay coupon to come out so score a better deal.
