Morning kiddos! I think winter would be my favorite time of year if it was 50 degrees warmer.

Well, I've been doing this since the punch card days, love my server room now, used to be 135 individual servers, monitors, keyboards, mice on a horseshoe table rack thing, now it's 200 servers in VMWare!! No more rack mounting.. LOVE VMWare!! Administration is awesome, NO downtime for users... Did I say I LOVE VMWare!! :)

I did the military tuck thing with my ties for years as a field service tech.. Glad those days are over.. Now I sit in my little NOC center with a big bay window and three 30 inch screens and control the world of Brevard.. 6 locations..

it's been coming down in buckets all morning. Over 2" of rain already with just about all of it since 7am. I better stop at the pet shop on the way home and pick up some Koi for the likely flooded basement...

That just looks cold, colder than I want to be. I hated it when I use to see the dog's water frozen on top.

The wife is babysitting one of her co-worker's son today. Him and his wife have already blew up my wife's phone texting with instructions and checking in. The baby is just kicking back watching cartoons from his walker and "talking" (like any other 5 month old would do)...he's pretty funny .

6° with windchill of -18° and both dropping fast. Embrace the suck... At least trying to.

I brought in VMWare here when NT 4 reached EOL and I had to upgrade 60 print servers and queues for 12,000 printers. Plus upgrade the Citrix farm. Did it all in 2 months with imaging for windows it was before P2V utils. The manager that resisted me the most was the keynote guest speaker at VMWorld in Vegas the next year, go figure.

Pushing everything to SaaS and the cloud. Still own 4 mainframes, not leased, once the data is migrated to the data lake and validated they are gone for good. Mainframe, midrange, Nix, Windows after enough years I hate them all equally :rofl:Still have 4,000+ fax machines and migrating those to SIP and software faxing. They needed someone to help with the migration and centralizing\standardizing so were looking for an old fart that knew faxing. Because I have been doing imaging since the beginning and knew what a fax machine and modem were somehow that fell in my ball park. Unfortunately faxing will be around for a long time yet at least in the Medical field for security reasons. Should take me out until I retire. Have all the rest of the electronic content management systems to play with to keep me busy also. Is it time to retire yet?! Still less stress than when I was a Sys Admin. Sometimes I miss it, others not so much.

LOL I still have flashbacks to that moment. Saw that exact EarthRoamer advertised on the company's Instagram page a couple days later too. Same license plate and all.

Earlier last week I get a missed call from the Ortho scheduling dept but returned the call 15 min later . I talk with them and new appt is scheduled for Feb 28th at 0915hrs

Just checked my mail and found a letter from the VA saying they cant reach me and to contact the Ortho scheduling department . I just called them and they said no appt was scheduled .... WTF !!

The person on the phone the looks up my records and notices I do have a appt set for Feb 28th at 0915 . I ask why I got this letter and his response was i dont know ...... WTF !!!!

I'm kind of in the same boat, not quite to that scale but I'm the old guy and now historically the only one that knows what this office has done in the last 22 years.. I know all about the faxes since I was trained on the hardware side for all the major fax machines, I was a Field Service Tech back then, working for a few different VARS.. Hell I went to school in Canada for the OLD IBM Selectric I, II, III IV!! Jesus, that was a long time ago, all 5000 mechanical adjustments on those buggars!!

Now I only put on about 12 different hats around here, have given up supervisory rolls in Ops, Tech Support, Helpdesk, and Networking, although I am Networking here.. I really wish I could actually specialize in just one... VMWare.. There is so much I could do if I didn't have to do all the rest too..
