I've been looking at the bestop for my 2018 trd sport but Im afraid that it wont fit in with my tracks. Ive done plenty of research online but cant find an answer. I was going to originally with the softtopper brand but they dont seem to make it for the 5ft bed. Anyone have any info if the best top will fit?

I had a bestop on my 2nd gen. On my 3rd gen I went with softopper for my 5ft bed. It exists. From my research the bestop wont fit well on a 3rd gen because it is slightly taller than the roofline.

^^^ I think this is the route I will take when I have the cash (softtopper).

They have not redesigned the bestop for 3rd gen. Mine blew off in a freak windstorm. Thankfully I bought it cheap used. The fitment on the 3rd gen creates a pocket in back of the cab where it meets the front of the bestop. It is not aerodynamic in the least for 3rd gen. Get the soft topper. Here's what happened to the hardware on the bestop.

I've had the same softopper on two trucks now. Its been surprisingly leak free- I sealed the seams when it was new and haven't touched them since.

And yes, they are made for the short bed. TAC60 is the model code.

This is a really stupid design.
There was no support on the back of those T-nuts facing the upper clamp, that's why the screws bent under heavy load (wind).
Take a look at some of the ones from Softopper, similar to the ones I have

The Bestop is not near the Quality of the Softopper. Go Softopper or go home. Fit and finish is awesome. Just need to seam seal that puppy.

What did you use to seal it?

Memory is fuzzy - there were a couple of things I bought around the same time and a tube of sealant came with one of them. I think it was the topper where it was included, but I could be wrong. Whatever it was, it was a Backcountry labeled brand of tent sealant.

I'll be purchasing a softtopper sometime this year. Just a heads up for those who still want to use the power rear window softtopper will do a "doggy door" on the window.
Add a note to order and they send separate PayPal invoice. I think they said $20
