Gardening Thread - Show me your gardens!

I put my order in with them the other week and got a bunch of the stuff. My potatoes and sweep potato slips will come late spring. I don't have the best luck with peppers or winter squash, probably not enough sun.

I ordered the 4' low tunnel bender so I will try to start cukes a couple weeks early and see if I get anything.

I also ordered my flower seeds, the pelletized petunia waves are good, one pellet for one hanging basket and they look just as good as the ones from Home Depot, just need to start them the first week of march.

 

Bee's and Bear's. Oh my.

 

Bees love my Foster Hollies and Abelias in the front yard when they flower. I get hundreds of bees on those. I planted more Foster Hollies in the back yard last fall and the Yaupon Holly tree I planted on the outside of my back fence several years ago is finally thriving. I'm hoping it will be bee central around here this spring!

 

Had a bit of a crazy weekend with the aquaponic system, but it's up and cycling, in another week or two I'll start putting in some plants.

Has anyone grown Tatsoi (Japanese Mustard Spinach) I'm looking at it because it's heirloom, and the amounts of protein and fiber in it are great. I'm mostly wondering what kind of flavor it has.

on Nemaguard peach rootstock. The main trunk is about 1 1/2 inches thick. That is way larger than the previous ones I have had.

Santa Rosa plum
Most popular plum in California & Arizona. Juicy, tangy and flavorful. Reddish purple skin, amber flesh tinged red. Late June in Central CA. 300 hours. Self-fruitful.
Blenheim Apricot
All-purpose freestone. Sweet, aromatic, flavorful - the long-time No. 1 apricot in California. Early bloom. Late June harvest in Central CA. 400 hours or less. Self-fruitful. USDA Zones 7-8.
Babcock white peach

Fantasia Nectarine

Finally did some planting. After a week my tatsoi seedlings are already beginning to grow new leaves, I put some cilantro seeds in almost two weeks ago and still haven't seen any sign of them, so we'll see what happens.

Update: I got home saw my first cilantro sprout, we'll see if more shows up.

 

Any recommendations on ordering seed packets online? Looking for a place that the shipping doesn’t cost as much as the seeds and doesn’t take 2 weeks to ship

I buy mine from Johnny's (https://www.johnnyseeds.com/) and they're usually decent, around $12.00 for shipping. But not sure if their seeds would work well for your area. Territorial seed (http://www.territorialseed.com/) may be a better option for your zone; I think for $35 worth of seeds I paid $6-7 in shipping

My tatsoi seedlings are starting to go downhill fast, and to be honest I think only one of them may make it. I don't know if this is bolting, or if there's something else going on I don't realize. Anyone have any ideas?

Could be an N deficiency (unlikely if you’re using fish shit to fertilize) so might be a pH imbalance like @wilcam47 said
Wack pH= nutrient lockout. U have a testing kit?

 

My ph has been at 7.0 water temp is 66 degrees. Nitrites are 0 and Nitrates are usually around 5ppm. Ammonia level is somewhere close to 0 but probably .10ppm or something.
I do have an LED grow light up top I run about 12-15 hours a day plus whatever natural sunlight enters the room (been pretty gloomy lately).
After speaking with some people on an aquaponic page they suggested my potassium levels may be off, so I'm going to look into adding some liquid seaweed extract as an aquarium safe fertilizer.

Sure. This time of year we can use some color, lol. Mine are under the snow right now, so all I've got is white.
