You throw chemical engineer out there as if that is an adequate appeal to authority. Chemical engineer is a broad study without any guaranteed expertise in the subject area in question.
Would a tribologist not be a stronger specific appeal? Maybe, but you would have to talk to one familiar with lubricant designin IC engines.
How many conversations have you had with lubrication professionals?

I provided some very detailed alogorythms established by such professionals. You should play with the numbers in those formulas to test your predetermined conclusions.

Yes, I'm sure Toyota would stake their reliability reputation on making sure the engine lasts 60k miles. Does your argument even logically make sense? A company known for reliability is trying to save money by sacrificing reliability? This only logically makes sense if you are in fact trying to ruin your reputation as a company because you no longer wish to remain in business.

Check your maintenance manual. Toyota specs 5K mile intervals for severe service.

Go check bobistheoilguy.com . It has been around for many years and is loaded with oil nerds who go way farther into this than anyone here. These guys run a specific oil for a certain mileage, drain it and send a sample to the lab for. the lab analysis tells the real story on how much engine wear occurred. Pretty simple approach and very scientific, unlike all the opinions and pontifications on these oil threads.
Short answer, 10K is just fine with synthetic oil.

Agreed, it’s the authority for oil and analysis on the internet, a lot of professionals there.

The biggest misconception on TW is too many members think Toyota makes motor oil.

    None as of yet
also old mentality. Production tolerances, metallurgy, and oil chemistry have all advanced significantly. Old ways die hard.
