Its a little over priced but I love Tuck Shop. Best atmosphere (for me) that Ive found yet in Phoenix.
If you want to go OG steak house, Durants.

    Both are awesome! Great suggestions!

I live two blocks from Tuck Shop! Great food and drinks... I'm just not a fan of the owners personally. Wish it wasn't the case cause I'm all about supporting my hood.

Durants almost made my list, but Steak 44 is better IMO.

Go to The Coronado for cauliflower tacos, and hit Udupi for the buffet.

I'm def not opposed to eating vegetarian, i did it for a couple years. but no offense if you're a vegetarian/vegan, nothing beats a medium rare steak.

    :deadhorse:. Haha. J/k

Not either, but they are the bomb. If you don’t get them and you’re in PHX you’re missing out!

I almost bought a house in Coronado when I moved to AZ in June. It would have been at the top of my budget and still need work so I went elsewhere unfortunately. I don't know the owners of Tuck Shop but I have become friendly with the bartender and am aware of a change of ownership that happened in the last couple years, I think. Doesn't the daughter/s and maybe the owner himself work/spend a lot of time in the restaurant?

Vincents is decent... kinda older crowd.

    Coronado is BOMB!

Yeah they are always there... When I use to work in the industry I worked for him when he owned a different place... damn, that was like 15 years ago.

I just went for the first time on Sunday, not expecting that much, thinking it was all just hype. I was impressed. I had brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was so good it didn't need sauce, luckily because all of their sauces were terrible.

Good to know about vincents. only considered it since we haven't done french food. Last thing I want to do is take the gf to an old folks place on her bday. That won't get me any "birthday cake".

@HABOOBS Howdy Neighbor! I'm in the 'hood just across the way, right behind Tacos Chiwas. Squeaked into the neighborhood when the gettin' was good before real estate exploded in our area.

I think all the best places have been mentioned, but I'll second Little Miss BBQ, La Santisima, and Tacos Huicho. There is a place right by Wren house called Pa'la that is real good. Owned by the chef from Noble Bread. Rotating simple menu, wood fired cooking, could dress it up or go casual. It was a winner when I took my wife there, highly recommend it.

    Hey neighbor!

Yes Pa'la is great in my opinion, especially for lunch. That said, I do have a problem with the California trend of paying top dollar for good food, only to be served it on disposable paper plates and disposable silverware that breaks when you try to cut meat. But other than that, its a good date spot for sure.
