Just enough to look kinda cool.
I've got a shop too, my grandpa stores his motorhome in it over the summer but during the winter it just houses a trailer and a backhoe. My grandpa is an old rancher so there is just about every tool you would need to do anything, just have to find it.

Are there any welders on here, or at least someone that could answer some welding related questions I have.

I have a Lincoln Welder...I use it occasionally..most of the time things stay together...but I would not call myself a welder. Does that help? :anonymous:

Sure that works, its for a school project. I have to "interview" someone which basically means have some questions and get them answered.
    1. When did you start welding?
    2. For what reason did you start welding?
    3. Would you recommend learning to weld?
    4. What are the tools that you recommend starting with?
    5. TIG, MIG, or stick welding and why?
    6. What is the oddest/hardest/sketchiest thing you've welded?
    7. Any other stories, comments, questions.
Anybody else that whats to add their .02$ please jump in.

I almost bought one years ago, but never had the place to use it. I was single at the time, I would have loved a lift like that. Now I have a shop of sorts, it just doesnt have a concrete floor so prob wouldnt do me any good. :(

Bwah ha ha ha- I walked into that one. really I am not a welder...but here is a response- hopefully someone else will respond with real experience...anyone...please...

1)Took a welding class first semester out of High school- Oxy acetylene is what we started on- got a "f" in the class- apparently you needed to show up to class- I did not have a plan making my first pass at college was a Joke. I did get some fundamentals on flowing a bead. Fast forward 25 years- my hobbies in building things I made craigslist spontaneous buy of an old Lincoln stickwelder.
    2) I had things that I owned that I wanted modify/or repair including things for the house.
3)Depends...do you naturally like to build/fix things? Would the idea building a bumper for a truck interest if you knew how? IF you said no...move on try something else if you said yes..then do it. Having the skill will open up things you can do and create - if not know then later.
4)Not going to be able to help here to much- Helmet- the auto dimming helmet was a great invention! Gloves because nobody likes getting burned- and your welder of choice.
5)I went Stick- it was cheap and it worked with thicker stuff that I usually play with also works on metal that is not so clean. I did have a cheap 110V wire feed that just didn't work for I was doing but I really like the general functionality of it.
6)Nothing significant- I made some brackets for a custom made plant trellace that bolted onto my Pole barn- something that you just cant buy at homedepot. Hardest/Sketchiest only because I was going to put significant force to the project and it was a brand new car trailer. I cut out a section of railing and welded in a winch mount for a 8000lb winch, along with mounting a storage box and relocated the tongue jack. Everything I cut and fabricated myself. I have got compliments on the set-up and I have put some serious stress to the mount and its held...so far.
    7) a)have an education plan. b)vocation jobs/trades can pay very well c)if do something, do it well- Ok thats all from the dad side of me.

    hope that helps.

Thanks, I’m a jack of all trades or I try to be. I’m expecting to have the drivers side finished welding tomorrow.

Finished welding drivers side, I might have to adjust some of the brackets or trim the front fender a small amount because it is about an inch from rubbing.

Not really, I mostly drive forest roads but that's really all I have around me. If I knew where there were rocks I'd do more crawling.
