Oh! You don’t have to drill any for SOS sliders. At least on 2nd Gen.

You won’t technically ‘have’ to drill the Demello. To my understanding the holes on the bottom can be drilled and bolted for full strength. But can be used without drilling. I will likely run mine without drilling for now.

I have CB and HAM (VHF/UHF).

If you don't have a HAM, they're cheap: https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-5R-Dual-Radio-Black/dp/B007H4VT7A - this was a great starter for me. You need a HAM radio license to transmit legally, but the FCC isn't going to break down your door for using them basically as fancy walkie-talkies in the woods.

3' firestik is great. They have the adjustable tip, so you're able to easily tune your SWR to acceptable levels.

I have a 2' firestik and 2x 4' fiberglass whips, the 2' firestik outperforms both the other antennas so I usually run it. You'll do well with a firestik. As for setup, my firestik is mounted to the Bajarack on the cab. That's about as optimal as it gets, but you can't easily mount to the roof unless you have a rack already or unless you buy a new antenna with a magnetic mount. There's other good places to mount an antenna though... SOS Offroad concepts makes a ditch light bracket you can put an antenna in, those work well and I used to run that until I got my Bajarack. I still have the brackets around somewhere if you want to buy/trade for them. Alternatively, if you'd rather mount in the back of the truck, you can mount one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000X3EQ3G in the gap between the tailgate and body at the back of the truck. That mount will be cheaper than the SOS bracket too.

Didn’t make it as far north today as I’d hoped. Trap shooting took up more of my day than anticipated. Managed to make it to the cohutta wilderness near lake Conasauga which turned out to be closed due to the winter season. The huge public camping fields don’t open up till mid march. They had several trail heads closed. Bummer.

McNabb Group Camp can hold 10-60 people and is only 30$ per night. Might be to far away. Not even on GA just though you guys might want to know about it

@BYJOSHCOOK Can you add me to the tentative list? Need to make sure my parents can watch the kiddos. Also, Burrells Ford Campground is a cool place and would open options to people interested in trout fishing on the Chattooga. Not 100% on how many people or rigs it can support. I usually hike it in and camp at the Chattooga.

Sweetness! Looks to be like 20ish strangers will be meeting up in the woods!
I look forward to meeting all of you and see who can beat me in the dizzy-izzy hatchet throwing contest. I may bring Jethro, Cleatus and Carl!
