greased my only 2 front u joints yesterday. Vibrtations I had are gone. I have 17k miles. Wish they still had zerks on the rear u joints. Took about 7 pumps each zerk to start purging. Want to raise more awareness for owners interested in this. Since the u joint threads are mostly buried

You greased the front driveshaft zerks and your driveline vibrations were reduced ? Even when driving in 2x mode ?

Just went out and greased the front driveshaft zerks , totally empty and dry, same as OP. Did help minimize some driveline vibrations for sure, still have the notorious 20mph decel vibe but it def seems better . Thanks for the tip !!!

I did mine at 30k, wish I would have done them earlier. Bone dry like many others have said!

How do you put the grease gun head on the zerks? No room in there to spin the head.

Yes driveline vibrations definitely were reduced. It was really easy to do. Just find the zerks attach the grease gun nozzle and start pumping slowly until you can see your new grease purge out. You’ll have to remove one small shield 2 12mm bolts to reach one of the zerks.

You have to put a little force for the grease gun to attach to the nipple. Lol. It’s a tight space but I made it work. One of the zerks is blocked by 2 12mm bolts you have to remove for a small shield

You spin the shaft by hand. If the zerK is upside down.

I used valvoline NGLI #2 grease. And a regular grease gun from oreillys.

I found that by rotating the driveshaft to 5oclock for the forward most zerk and approx 7oclock for the rear one I was able to get a standard grease gun nozzle in the tight space

Yes just make sure the nozzle is fully seated on the zerk. Otherwise you’ll be leaking all over.

I found the hardest part was getting my middle aged fat ass under the truck without getting lodged under the cross-member !
