Whatsup everybody, i'm gonna sound like a noob when it comes to this stuff but i ran into an issue while trying to get my CB hooked up. All i got left to do is purchase a new 3 pin power cord for the radio because the one i got is way too short to reach my battery. Ideally i'd like to hook to the battery because i hear it's the best choice to prevent interference.

My problem is it seems all 3 pin power cords for CB radios are 6ft long and after taking measurements it looks like i'll be about a foot short. Does anyone know of any 3 pin power cords that are longer than 6ft? preferably 8ft? Should i just buy the 6ft and get extra wire in the same guage to extend it with? I would be running it from the (CB) passenger side console to the passenger side grommet, than across the back of my engine bay to the drivers side, then straight to the battery. I also wonder if it's possible to just run it up behind the console itself. that may save me the foot i need. Thanks.

Can't help you on the routing, but as for extending, that's easy. Get the requisite amount of the same gauge wire, add an extra foot, and then add one more foot on top of that. When you add the extensions, do it so that they don't overlap; that is, cut one 6" from the end, another 9", and the last one 12". Solder the new wire on, put a heat-shrink jacket over each joint, and then one over that covers the whole thing. Job done.

Thank you, I ended up finding a way through the back of the console which saved me a foot or more and went in through the drivers side firewall grommet. It's got just enough slack to where it's not too tight. I can't believe it reached lol.. Heard alot of truckers over the weekend on 19
