Got bored today during my oil change and started looking round the garage for shit to do...
Came up with a cheap and easy headache rack mod while still being able to have my tonneau installed.

Disclaimer-It's not going to stop your bro quad from smashing through your window or anything but I wanted some kind of protection for the back glass when the tonneau is off and I have the bed full or I'm loading/unloading materials. Also I wanted something that can be easily installed/ un-installed. I've had the Backracks before and I just didn't like the look or fitment. And mounting a tonneau with those racks are also problematic. They are purpose built but not for me. I sketched up some fabrication ideas for using the forward cross beam because I thought the space (~3") between my window and tonneau would be perfect. But long story short I don't weld and don't want to pay a fab shop shop-so here we are. Used my old beat up bed divider for something. Btw my tonneau is from my Gen 2, Solid 2.0 model, fitment is good enough for my Gen 3 bed.

    Tools:

    Drill
    Ratchet
    Tape

    Materials:
    (3) 2.5" x 5/16 bolt c/w washer and lock nut
These bolts replace the existing square head bolts that are on the bed divider. Shown on right of pic. The new bolts will slide into the same slot for mounting.

Disassembled ends of bed divider, use these for optional L bracket reinforcing to bed (provides additional rigidity in forward/ backwards motion of rack:

Placement of brackets, note that you can fasten brackets to existing bed rails and new hardware would only be required from bracket to front cross beam:

Clearance problem, remove tonneau cover clips to allow for flush mouthing:
