I'm on the fence about whether I want my spare tire mounted vertical or slight angle inward. Are there any other advantages when mounted angled than more departure clearance? Any cons to mounting the spare tire straight up and down?

Where the bottom of the tire is will effect things .

If you will be raising the bottom by angling tire it will help not sure how much it will get you

mounting at an angle versus vertical will also reduce the shear force on whatever you mount it to. Granted not by much, but it's something to consider. Also as mentioned, mounting at an angle will increase your departure angle by a small amount.

Yeah, I'm thinking a couple inches more clearance at most.

I didn't think about the added shear force when mounted vertical but makes sense. Thanks for the feedback
